The Manager, Training & Projects will oversee the design, delivery, and evaluation of training programs for ambulance personnel, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Reporting to the General Manager, Ambulance Services, this role is instrumental in driving operational excellence through effective training and skills development. The incumbent will also be required to provide operational support as a paramedic during manpower shortages and assist in event management when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Certification Management and Compliance
- Obtain and maintain certifications such as WSQ (Advanced Certificate in Learning & Performance, Advanced Certificate in Training & Assessment) and SRFAC certifications.
- Ensure all training programmes comply with organisational and regulatory standards.
- Monitor the validity of certifications for participants and arrange for renewals or recertification as required.
Course Design, Training Effectiveness and Reporting
- Develop comprehensive course syllabi and outlines tailored to meet organizational needs and industry best practices.
- Update and enhance course materials to reflect current standards and emerging trends.
- Compile and analyze training outcomes and attendance data to evaluate program effectiveness ; Provide detailed reports to management, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement.
- Manage participant records, verify attendance, and maintain accurate training documentation.
- Ensure compliance with data management and confidentiality policies.
Training Logistics Management, Course Facilitation and Delivery
- Coordinate logistics for training sessions, including room preparation, procurement of materials, and availability of equipment specific to each course.
- Conduct and oversee delivery of the following courses and training programs:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support + AED (BCLS+AED)
- Standard First Aid
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (review sessions)
- Emergency Medical Technician (review sessions)
- UPEC-ITE Paramedic Conversion (review sessions)
- Sports First Aid
- Skill refreshers
- Other relevant ambulance department courses or training
Equipment and Material Maintenance
- Ensure proper maintenance of training equipment and timely replenishment of consumables.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure readiness for training sessions.
Audit Peparation and Collaboration
- Lead preparations for internal and external audits, ensuring training documentation meets required standards.
- Work closely with department heads to identify and address specific training needs.
Operational and Event Support
- Serve as a backup paramedic during extenuating circumstances such as manpower shortages, providing operational support when required.
- Assist in the planning and execution of events as needed to ensure seamless delivery.
- Provide leadership to the Learning and Development team, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and HR strategies.
- Collaborate with senior management to continuously improve employee engagement and development frameworks.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of programmes and initiatives, utilizing metrics to drive decision-making.
Requirements
Qualifications
- WSQ Advanced Certificate in Learning & Performance (ACLP) and Advanced Certificate in Training & Assessment (ACTA).
- Relevant SRFAC certifications (e.g., BCLS+AED, ACLS, First Aid).
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Nursing, Healthcare Management, or equivalent) is preferred.
