Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), University of the Arts Singapore, an esteemed arts institution with a global reputation seeks a passionate Adjunct Lecturer at the Teaching & Learning Centre.
The Teaching & Learning Centre (TLC) aims to help students thrive academically by promoting excellence and innovation in the teaching of the arts and supporting their learning needs through workshops and resources. Besides advising on programme and curriculum design, the centre also facilitates the adoption of digital technologies and resources that enable effective teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
The incumbent would be required to undertake contact/teaching hours per week in English and Communication programmes.
The role involves providing one-to-one and small group consultations for English Language (writing & presentation), as well as preparing and developing documents such as lesson plans and teaching resources/materials. You will be required to maintain high quality if teaching throughout the delivery of lessons, as well as provide timely formative and summative feedback to students.
You will be required to perform administrative duties such as prepare and maintain records relating to students’ progress, performance, and attendance and contribute to the review of the assigned component(s). To also mentor and provide academic care and support, including career guidance to students.
In addition, you will be required to keep to date on the development of disciple-related teaching practices and learning strategies, contribute to collaboration and research, preferably in the area of art/interdisciplinarity, as well as engage and teach in other courses within the Academy as appropriate, if required.
Requirements & Qualifications
You should possess minimally a Bachelor’s degree in Education/English Language/Communications or a related field, preferably a master’s degree, with a minimum 5 years’ of extensive academic and/or industry experience.
A strong command of the English Language (both written & spoken) is essential to succeed in the role.
A strong track record of research/practice, with actual or potential for research output in your chosen field and able to perform in a fast-paced environment, to adapt, multi-task and meet deadlines. You should be an excellent problem-solver with strong analytical skills.
A positive, enthusiastic, and results-oriented with the ability to engage students in their learning, as well as a team player with excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation and writing skills.
