The Innovation & Enterprise Fellowship Programme (IFP) seeks to grow the pool of deep-tech talent in Singapore with the capabilities to support the commercialisation of deep-tech research and bring nascent technologies to market. Targeting researchers, scientists, and engineers (RSEs), the programme aims to develop industry relevant innovation and entrepreneurial skills through both formal and on-the-job training.

At EDDC, our goal is to discover and develop novel therapeutics by working collaboratively with public sector and industry partners. Principle Roles & Responsibilities:

• Develop and perform biochemical, biophysical and cellular assays for functional characterization of small molecules and biologics.
• Analyze and present experimental data in a clear and concise manner, demonstrating a good understanding of its utilization and implications in the context of drug discovery.
• Perform molecular cloning, stable cell-line generation and CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing.
• Support laboratory housekeeping, safety check, SOP writing and other administrative and compliance-related processes.

Requirements:

• Degree or postgraduate degree in biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences or related disciplines.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Research Officer will assist the Principal Investigators (PI) to oversee the smooth running and tracking progress of clinical research studies related activities and project. This include:

• Perform DNA extraction, sample quality control, prepare sequencing libraries and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) on clinical samples
• Collate multiple datasets and perform statistical analysis (not restricted to regression) for molecular (genomic and blood biomarker) epidemiology studies
• Perform bio-banking and cataloguing of biological samples
• To work closely with clinical research coordinators, scientist and other stakeholders
• To assist PI in project management and administration for multiple research projects, including ethics review applications to NHG DSRB

JOB REQUIREMENTS

We are seeking an experienced, self-driven and committed Principal/Senior Research Officer to conduct research and surveillance of arboviruses and other pathogenic viruses at the Environmental Health Institute.

The successful candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary environment, where his/her research is translated into evidence-based public health programmes and policies. The candidate will lead/ conduct studies that will contribute to the risk assessment of arboviruses and/or environmentally transmitted viruses. These studies may include virus culture and characterization, seroepidemiological studies using various immunoassays, among others.
