Job Description

Nested at the NUS Department of Psychological Medicine, the Mind Science Centre (MSC) is a faculty-volunteer collaborative partnership. MSC undertakes mental health research across the age continuum to translate outcomes into effective, scalable interventions in Singaporean and Asian communities.

The position provides an opportunity to engage with and conduct translational mental health research concerning children, adolescents and emerging adults. The Youth Epidemiology and Resilience (YEAR) Study is a nationwide epidemiology study that aims to survey the mental health status and resilience of Singaporean adolescents aged 10-18 years old. You will also have the opportunity to assist on other active research projects such as the Intranasal Oxytocin for Autism Spectrum Disorder Study, as well as the Youth and Emerging Adults (YEA) Study.

Job Description

Assist the Principal Investigator in submitting study notifications to the NHG Domain Specific Review Board (DSRB) or Institutional Review Board (IRB) for ethics review
Attend project-related initiation, close-up and other project related meetings
Conduct literature reviews to inform the planning of research activities
Plan, organize and coordinate routine study activities workflow
Assist investigators in the screening and recruitment of potential participants/ volunteers according to study protocol
Assist with on-site research study activities
Coordinate and follow-up with participants on study requirements
Handle data entry and cleaning
Maintain Investigator Site Files and ensure that all study documents are complete and up to date

We are looking for a wet-lab Research Assistant, who has experience in working with mice models and performing molecular and cellular experiments to study cardio/pulmonary/kidney and immune-fibrotic traits, with the aim of deciphering the primary genetic factors and regulatory networks underlying cardio-metabolic diseases. The position will be for a period of 2 years, with possibility of renewal depending on the candidate’s work performance and contribution to the project .

The selected candidate will provide expertise in conducting research activities within the overall scope of the research project, including but not limited to the following:

Maintain animal colonies, breeding, preparing animals for surgery or intravenous injection, obtaining samples and measurements, administering medicine and monitoring the animal’s environment (i.e. mice cages).
Perform molecular and cellular biology experiments, including histology procedures, cell/tissue culture, PCR and western blotting.
Prepare reagents/buffers/solutions/culture medium required for the experiments.
Contribute to experiment management (including but not limited to planning, organizing, conducting, and communicating research studies).
Accurate documentation (i.e. lab log book/notes), reporting and monitoring of experimental results and research findings
Evaluate and interpret collected research data / findings and make appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
Prepare oral presentations or written reports/scientific manuscripts.
Contribute to laboratory management (including maintaining lab registries, inventories, safety and ethics, procurement of lab materials and consumables, maintenance of lab equipment) to ensure optimal day to day lab operations.
Provide guidance to junior researchers as well as undergraduate and graduate students, and occasional educational/instructional activities.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in a related scientific area (e.g. Life Sciences/Biomedical Sciences) with at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
Demonstrated laboratory skills and expertise, in supporting various research activities.
Experience in animal work (animal handling and maintenance), in particular rodents is mandatory.
Knowledge of scientific background relevant to the research area.
Strong team player who is able to prioritise, multi-task and work collaboratively/harmoniously in a diverse workforce.
Excellent command of English and communication skills.

Project Title: SingaKids Pic2Speak: Multilingual AI Tutor – Uplifting Singapore’s Bilingual Edge

Project Introduction:

This project aims to develop and pilot SingaKids Pic2Speak, an AI (Artificial Intelligence)-powered multilingual virtual tutor designed for Singaporean students in primary 2 to enhance their oral skills in Mother Tongue Languages. SingaKids Pic2Speak utilises AI to generate question-answer pairs from images, providing teachers with a selection tailored to students' needs. These pairs can prompt spoken responses by presenting both the image and the question. The system evaluates responses based on content accuracy, grammatical correctness, and oral delivery (e.g., pronunciation, fluency), offering corresponding feedback. Additionally, the student's engagement level is assessed through speech signals. By considering both engagement and capability, we can provide recommendations and intervention strategies to enhance learning outcomes and interest.

Led by a team from A*STAR, this project collaborates with sub-teams from various local institutions and organisations. The Research Associate/Assistant we are seeking will be part of the NIE sub-team for this project.

In the current recruitment cycle, we aim to hire one research assistant/associate proficient in Malay Language and another in Tamil Language.

Requirements

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced clinical monitor to perform the study monitoring in ADVANcing Clinical Evidence in Infectious Diseases Network (ADVANCE ID). ADVANCE ID is jointly funded by the Wellcome Trust and Singapore institutions including the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. The vision of the Network is to improve public health by developing the clinical evidence base for the prevention and treatment of drug-resistant infections. Its mission is to build and sustain a strategic clinical research network focused on most efficiently delivering locally relevant interventions for drug-resistant infections.

The Network aims to improve and strengthen clinical research capabilities in the region by acting as a platform to develop good principles and practices. It will stabilise capacity and capabilities to mitigate inefficiencies in trial start-up phase and loss of skillset following study closure, as in typical trial setup. The Network will continuously develop its capabilities, quality and efficiency by learning from and collaborating with other clinical trial networks.

In the long term, the Network aims to support broader infectious disease studies by expanding geographically beyond its original starting point in South East Asia and collaborating with other networks around the world. It will function as an active network that involves patients in platform trials, allowing for rapid clinical research response in the event of an emerging infectious disease or pandemic threat.

The monitor should be able to supervise study sites and activities to ensure adherence to appropriate study protocols and applicable regulatory requirement terms of the study.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Conduct qualification visits (QV), site initiation visits (SIV), monitoring visits (MV) and termination visits (TV) at assigned clinical sites and generate visit reports.
• Monitor the progress of clinical study sites participating in a clinical study, and to assure the protocol is followed and data is reported accurately.
• Evaluate the quality and integrity of the reported data, site efficacy and investigational product (IP) management.
• Review the performance of the trial at designated sites, ensure the rights and well-being of human subjects are safeguarded and are in accordance with protocol.
• Develop patient recruitment strategies in conjunction with the clinical site to meet enrolment timelines, while also ensuring compliance with the approved standard operating procedures (SOPs), protocol/amendment(s), GCP, and the applicable regulatory requirement(s).
• Assure that adverse events are correctly documented and reported.
• Ensure proper transmission of clinical case data to the data management centers, review case reports questions and problems and clarify or obtain alterations to data as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Site Management or equivalent experience in clinical research, with understanding of clinical trials methodology and terminology.
• Ability to perform all clinical monitoring activities independently.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills within a matrixed team.
• Experience working in a self-driven capacity, with a sense of urgency and limited oversight.
• Good time management and ability to manage multiple tasks, evaluate a variety of unpredictable scenarios and achieve project timelines while being able to apply your understanding of study protocol(s).

Job Description

Associate Professor Giorgia Pastorin is working closely with the industry to co-develop a pipeline of therapeutics based on a colon targeting 3D printed formulation platform. A/Prof Pastorin is looking for motivated applicants for the role of research assistant in a multi-disciplinary research project involving formulation work, 3D printing, quantitative analysis and drug delivery systems. This is a full-time role.

The shortlisted applicant will have the opportunity to work closely with the industry partner, Craft Health Pte Ltd. Craft Health is Singapore and Southeast’s Asia first and only 3D printing company for pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals.

The main responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:
• Assist the industry partner for formulation development.
• Chemical and physical assays of the various formulations, including dissolution tests, disintegration tests, FTIR, HPLC, etc.
• Rigorous documentation of experimental data and procedures
• Communicate results and data in a timely and effective manner.
• Support technology transfer of scalable and robust drug product manufacturing processes to process validation with Craft Health production team or with external manufacturing partners.
• Support maintenance of internal research lab equipment and supplies.
• Support product development activities such as analytical method development and product characterization, such as HPLC-UV, FTIR and in vitro dissolution assays.
• Support stability studies and related activities.
• Assist in authoring high-quality technical memorandum, protocols, reports, summaries, SOPs, quantitative analysis, scientific reports and presentations for the distribution and/or presentation to project teams, and for regulatory agency submissions.
• Deliver high quality communication, analytics, data analysis and timely project delivery.
• Any other required duties as required by the Project Team.

Qualifications

• Qualifications / Discipline: Bachelor’s Degree in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, life sciences, chemical engineering or other science related fields.

• Skills:
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Able to work independently, self-starter, self-motivated and task oriented.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong team player, develop positive relationship with a strong set of interpersonal skills.
