What the role is
Established in April 2011, the Centre for Foundation Studies runs preparatory programmes to provide a head start for students pursuing tertiary education in Temasek Polytechnic and beyond. In addition to our flagship Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP@TP), the centre also spearheads other foundational and preparatory programmes, such as the Online Preparatory Programme and the University Preparatory Programme (UPP).
What you will be working on
The primary role is to design, develop, conduct, facilitate and review language and communications programmes for targeted groups, and includes face-to-face and online instruction and interaction. Involvement in student development, event management and other training/publicity/administrative work, where applicable, is expected.
• To develop and conduct language and communication lessons for PET & CET learners
• To develop and conduct NE and life skill lessons for full time students including PFP
• To design and conduct learning needs analysis so as to implement relevant intervention strategy as well as to develop online learning packages, language proficiency tests and appropriate self-directed learning packages
• To conduct research study on current educational trend
• To provide pastoral care and to facilitate NE and life skill as well as Personal Development & Effectiveness modules
• To be involved in student development work to enhance students’ learning through field trips and programs both locally and overseas
• To support the Centre in, orientation, outreach, and other centre/school/polytechnic level committee work.
What we are looking for
• One of the following qualifications will be required:
- Academic training in related field e.g. English Language, Literature, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Mass Communication, Technical Writing, Education, Art & Social Sciences etc.
OR
- Academic training, with professional certification & experience in the following area(s):
>> CELTA, advanced certification in career development facilitation
>> Curriculum design, development and assessment
>> Designing, delivering and evaluating online courses
The following prerequisites will also be required:
• At least three years of teaching experience which includes areas such as curriculum development and assessment, and designing, delivery and evaluation of online courses
• Experience in analyzing student’s performance to understand student’s learning needs
• Ability to lead and facilitate discussions, mediate different opinions and evaluate reasoning
• Familiarity & currency with MOE’s Full-Subject Based Banding framework
• Familiarity with G1, G2 and G3 subject requirements
• Teaching experience with Normal Academic (NA) students and upper secondary levels
• Experience in providing Education & Career Guidance (ECG) to secondary students
• Experience in conducting NE/life skill related subjects and/or activities
• Experience in Using AI in scaffolding students learning and enhancing students’ learning outcome
