Rainfall-induced erosion failure of the slope is a severe concern in many tropical countries as it can harm public safety and/or infrastructure. The impact could be especially severe in Singapore as our population density is high and our infrastructure development is very dense; hence, some of these slopes are near to the infrastructure development and residential areas. The erosion failure can also lead to high repair costs. Singapore is tropical country with very high annual rainfall. Climate change seems to intensify our rainfall and increase its frequency.
