This project focuses on policy and ideological mobility of the “smart city” between Asia and Africa. The international research team consists of two geographers, a philosopher, and an urban planning scholar. We are looking to appoint one research assistant in the short term, with the possibility of re-appointment in the future.

The major tasks include reviewing literature, collecting secondary data (city plans, news reports, and policy documents, etc.), qualitatively analyzing the data, and writing research reports. Other duties are contingent on the progress of the project.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and talented individual to join us as an Epidemiological Modeller. The successful candidate will develop and apply cutting-edge models that integrate large datasets of genomic sequences and social media content to understand and forecast disease transmission dynamics. They will also have access to a wealth of genomic and social media data, and will be responsible for conducting analyses that inform public health policy and decision-making.

The successful candidate will join the Protein Sequence Analysis group (https://www.a-star.edu.sg/bii/research/bsfd/psa) at the Bioinformatics Institute, which is part of the Agency for Science, Technology, and Research in Singapore (A*STAR Singapore). Our group plays important technical and scientific roles in GISAID (https://www.gisaid.org), which makes viral sequences available freely whilst safeguarding depositors’ data rights. Job Description

The research scope for this position is in perception and navigation development for an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle operating in offshore environment. We will be developing advanced techniques for structural tracking and methods for perception generalisation across multiple types of offshore infrastructure. Perception and navigation strategies around complex jackets will be devised with a high level of scale as the focus for the techniques utilised. The techniques will start first with a mapping step (not necessarily used for localisation) followed by perception and navigation step. The development will be first deployed in the digital twin model of the Technology Centre for Offshore Marine Singapore (TCOMS) ocean basin before being tested in the open waters of Singapore.

• Research and implement perception and fusion algorithms utilising sensors such as camera, stereo camera and sonar.
• Explore cost map and mapping techniques to achieve a certain level of mapping of the environment in 3D space. Be able to extend this is to enable global localisation against this pre-existing a-prior map that is built from previous mapping run.
• Research and explore possible localisation algorithms fusing multiple navigation and sensor sources with SLAM for handling of edge cases in vehicle navigation.

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Fellow in the Centre for Behavioural and Implementation Science Interventions, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Centre for Behavioural and Implementation Science Interventions (BISI) is a research and education centre that aims to improve the health and well-being of the population by accelerating evidence-based practice through the use of behavioural and implementation sciences.

Appointments will be made on one year contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

The Research Fellow will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator and study team members to ensure the successful execution of PI’s research agenda. The RF’s principal role will be to assist the PI in developing their research agenda, help develop publications and carry out work in general practices such as recruitment, data collection, data entry and analysis.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Research Fellow will liaise with the relevant personnel in the healthcare system and university to smooth the process of recruitment and data collection and will be accountable to the Principle Investigator (PI). The RF will be able to:

1. Oversee the general management of the PI’s research agenda;
2. Undertake the day to day running of the PI’s research projects
3. Conduct literature searches, using SPSS to enter data, and analyse data and maintain trial database, as well as assist in preparing both progress and final reports of the project;
4. Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures;
5. Assist PI in developing conference presentations and publications on the ongoing research work.
