Close Personal Tutoring (CPT)

Tutors are best placed to ensure that students receive an excellent standard of care, guidance and support during their time at ISG. In conjunction with the practices and responsibilities laid out in the academic professional staff handbook, it is the tutor’s responsibility to be approachable, engaged and informed with regards to their tutees. Tutors should be the first point of contact for both their tutees and parents and, as such, will facilitate the support or guidance for the tutees using up-to-date tracking and monitoring data. CPT will include:

• Any, and all, discussion regarding the academic and personal development of students at Invictus Centrium involving members of staff, students and parents.
• Discussions or intervention with students between tutors, teachers or Leadership.
• Formal reviews between tutors, teachers or the Leadership of each student’s personal academic profile with the aim of supporting academic achievement.
• Correspondence from tutors, teachers or the leadership to parents discussing each student’s personal academic / pastoral profiles.
• Regular correspondence with parents as the initial school POC.
• Weekly tutor time programme and engagement with additional programmes (eg. PSHE / Study Skills)

Welfare and Discipline

• Monitor the work of class/form students, providing guidance, advice and admonishment.
• Write and maintain relevant records for individual student files and write reports.
• Lead Pastoral Interventions and communicate and consult with parents as required.
• Participate in, and document, meetings for any of the purposes above.
• Participate in the maintaining of high standards of behaviour and uniform of students in the classroom and in all school locations and activities.
• Follow Invictus Centrium policies with regard to the health and safety of students both on and off the school premises when students are under the school’s jurisdiction.
• Take a pastoral interest in students in curriculum and additional activities around the school environs so that they feel noticed, valued and cared for.

• Attend meetings designed to share information necessary for the smooth running of the school and the successful delivery of its programmes.

Personal Specification

Education, training and qualifications

• Bachelor’s / Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a technical related field
• Recognised teaching qualification at the Secondary School level

Knowledge and experience

Teacher Resource Support

 To provide teaching and learning support to teachers such as

preparation of resources / materials for Science laboratory activities,

enrichment programmes and competitions, etc;

 To assist to source and purchase materials for laboratory activities,

practical tests and enrichment programme and to aid science

teachers with the clearing up after laboratory lessons and when

required;

 To assist to prepare forms and expenditures claims and keep copies

of invoices and receipts;

 To label and keep records of existing and new Science teaching and

learning materials and laboratory apparatus such as teachers’ desk

copies, reference books, DVDs, lab apparatus and chemicals, etc;

 To maintain loan records of Science Resources;

 To pack and organize the resources in the Science Rooms. Ensure

that the Science rooms are clean and conducive for lessons;

 To ensure laboratory equipment, materials and specimens are in

good working conditions. Conduct stock-take at least twice a year.

Assist to update the stock record and breakage record to initiate

ordering of replacements, when necessary;

 To ensure proper disposal of waste materials such as sharp waste

objects and chemicals;

 To ensure safety of students in the Science rooms. Record and

report any incidents to Science HOD / LH. Maintain a laboratory

incident log book;

 To check that safety devices in the laboratory, such as emergency

eye-washers, showers and fire extinguishers are working;

 To perform any duties assigned by the Science HOD / Level

Representative.

Main Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver engaging lessons in accordance with the enrichment centre’s curriculum.
• Create a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation and promotes creativity.
• Establish and maintain good relationships with students and parents; provide regular updates to parents on students’ performance and progress
• Collaborate with colleagues & assistant to enhance curriculum development and teaching methods.
• Maintain accurate records of students’ attendance, performance, and achievements.
• Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development activities provide & collaborate with Japan HQ as required.
• Ensure centre management and the safety and well-being of all students.
• Perform all administrative and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education/ Teacher Certificate, Diploma or other Teacher Accreditation courses and certification, or relevant field.
• Prior experience teaching in an enrichment centre or similar educational setting.
• 1-2 year of proven experience in teaching mathematics/ science at the primary or early secondary school level.
• Strong classroom management skills and ability to engage young learners effectively.
• Passion for education and commitment to the academic and personal development of students.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiar with Singapore’s education system and curriculum frameworks (PSLE & early Secondary).

Remark: The teacher needs to teach at least two subjects and will need to travel between the two branches.

Job Responsible:

• Prepare and conduct lessons: Tailor lessons in accordance with our curriculum with a holistic understanding of your student’s learning needs to meet the unique needs and learning styles of individual students.
• Curriculum Development: Work with our curriculum development team to create useful learning materials.
• Motivation: Inspire and motivate students to excel academically and develop a love for learning. Be a role model for your students. Give appropriate advice to students to improve students’ holistic development.

Administrative:

• Prepare lesson plans and teaching materials
