Job Responsibilities:
CURRICULUM
Ć Communicates with families about the programmeās approach.
Ć Has basic knowledge and ability to set up developmentally appropriate indoor and outdoor learning environments.
Ć Understand and demonstrate the rationale for selecting and arranging materials and equipment and make adaptations when required.
Ć Engages children in an active process of exploring materials and equipment.
Ć Identify ways to modify the schedule according to individual childrenās needs and requirements.
Ć Initiates strategies based on knowledge of childrenās interests, needs and temperament.
Ć Understand and facilitates child-initiated and adult-facilitated activities and interactions.
Ć Demonstrates warm, positive, nurturing, and respectful interactions with children.
Ć Identify a variety of positive guidance techniques.
Ć Engage children in an active process of exploring materials and equipment.
Ć Support childrenās learning by allowing them time to grasp concepts or practice skills and responding to them in meaningful ways.
Ć Recognise the importance of observing and documenting childrenās learning.
Ć Contributes ongoing observations to understand childrenās behaviour, maintaining confidentiality.
Ć Observe childrenās relationships and is aware of their involvement with each other.
CONNECTING WITH FAMILIES
Ć Maintains confidentiality and ensures privacy on communications and data about families and colleagues.
Ć Shares information and relevant resources with families about the curriculum, childrenās daily activities and their progress on a regular basis.
Ć Build and sustains respectful relationship with families that capitalise on familiesā strength and capacities.
CENTRE OPERATIONS
Ć Demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively effectively with colleagues, children, families and others.
Ć Follows staff roster and class timetable.
Ć Support the vision, mission and core values of the centre.
Ć Aware of facility requirement and report maintenance issue to RO.
Ć Demonstrate commitment to provide quality care and education for the children.
Ć Recognises the importance of supporting diverse needs of children through positive partnership with families.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Ć Ensure Champs safety in all areas and activities. Eg: Champs are to be supervised at all times.
Ć Ensure all Champs hygiene at all times. Eg: Proper hand washing and food handling habits.
Ć Ensures classroom adheres to safety and hygiene regulations. Eg: Hygiene items are accessible, classroom is free from hazards.
Ć Report any damage/safety hazards in classroom to VP / P.
Ć To ensure cleanliness in all parts of the centre
Ć To lead class during any fire evacuation exercise and ensure that all Champs are accounted for.
Ć Menu is displayed.
Ć Food allergies of individual child are displayed prominently.
Ć Staff are patient with messiness slow eater are given time to finish food, children are encouraged to eat independently.
Ć Staff and children observe good hygiene practices.
Ć Proper hands washing with soap after toileting, before/after meals and
Ć after outdoor and art activities.
Ć Proper sanitary procedures are observed during diaper changing.
Ć Staff wash their hands before/after diaper changing.
Ć Soiled diapers are properly disposed in a covered bin.
Ć Children are supervised at all times.
Ć Children are within sight, hearing and easy reach of staff Eg: Staff quickly get materials from cupboard in room)
Ć Staffās attention is on care giving responsibilities, not on other tasks or interests.
Ć Power points are out of childrenās reach or rendered harmless.
Ć There are proper storage facilities for play equipment; more than 2 staffs are present during outdoor play.
Ć Safety gates are latched at all times.
Ć Ensure that administration of medicine forms are updated and filled.
Ć Children suffering from infections/ communicable diseases return to centre upon expiry of medical certification and are well (No symptoms of the illness).
Ć Childrenās personal effects such as toothbrushes and mugs, mattress covers and combs are labelled and well maintained.
Ć Contact information of parents / guardians and medical information of children are up-to-date and readily available.
HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Ć Know the expectations of oneās job description and is familiar with the organisationās personnel policies such as performance management, wages, benefits contact.
Job Requirements:
Ć Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education - Teaching (DECCE-T)
Ć Creative and inspiring with loving energy
Ć Excellent communication and classroom management skills
Ć Be familiar with all working curriculum documents, handbooks and policy manuals.
Ć Knowledge in educational development / cognitive psychology
Ć Bilingual in English & Chinese
