The international research team consists of two geographers, a philosopher, and an urban planning scholar. Job Description

The research scope for this position is in perception and navigation development for an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle operating in offshore environment. We will be developing advanced techniques for structural tracking and methods for perception generalisation across multiple types of offshore infrastructure. Perception and navigation strategies around complex jackets will be devised with a high level of scale as the focus for the techniques utilised. The techniques will start first with a mapping step (not necessarily used for localisation) followed by perception and navigation step. The development will be first deployed in the digital twin model of the Technology Centre for Offshore Marine Singapore (TCOMS) ocean basin before being tested in the open waters of Singapore.

• Research and implement perception and fusion algorithms utilising sensors such as camera, stereo camera and sonar.

Job Description

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), and French-Singaporean international laboratory (Majulab), are looking for a talented postdoctoral or PhD candidate in experimental physics, for exploring the fundamental and technological quantum resources of systems that are constructed around a high-Kerr photonic resonators – i.e. a resonator in which the nonlinearity strength acts at the scale of one or a few photons. Two research axes are currently in development: (i) New physics and resources emerging in the quantum regime of photonic bistability, and (ii) new paradigm for the measurement of quantum scale forces (i.e. at the scale of single photons recoil) in hybrid Strong-Kerr optomechanical architectures.

More specifically, the goals are:

• Characterise the quantum properties of a strong-Kerr microresonator in the bistable regime using classical and quantum light: e.g.: demonstration of a Dynamical Casimir effect in the jump dynamics, demonstration of a giant single-shot ultra-fast amplification of single or few photons.
• Participate in the development of a new type of hybrid Strong-Kerr optomechanical architecture by optical characterization and feedback (Collaboration for the fabrication: C2N CNRS, Paris-Saclay). Demonstrate the polaritonic-enhancement and the Kerr-enhancement of the optomechanical interactions in the system using externally applied classical and quantum-prepared radiation pressure.

Job Requirements

The candidate should have a solid academic track-record, and in the case of a postdoc position, a previous experience in experimental physics on connected topics such as: Quantum optics, atomic vapours and/or condensates, optomechanics of nano-microsystems, optical spectroscopy of solid-state nano-micro-systems.

The appointee will join CQT under the supervision of Dr M. Richard (Majulab & CQT affiliated). The candidate will contribute in every aspect of the group operation, e.g. by co-supervising interns and PhD candidates. Salary will be competitive and will be commensurate with the candidates work experience.

Candidates who have a PhD degree and generally 3 or more years’ postdoctoral research experience will be considered for a senior role.

The Day-to-Day Activities

• Conceptualise and develop machine learning models to understand, classify and predict user behaviors in different scenarios. Deploy, test and maintain them.
• Design and conduct both offline and online experiments to validate hypotheses.
• Design and implement algorithms to derive deep insights and identify trends, patterns and relationships from high-volume high-dimensional data.
• You are required to participate in code and design reviews with peers to maintain our high-standard engineering practice.
• You will participate in on-call rotations with engineers. Troubleshoot, mitigate, and resolve issues.

The Must-Haves

• You have Heart, Hunger, Honour and Humility.
• Master's Degree or above in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Automation, Data Science, or other Computer Science related majors.
• You have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in developing Machine Learning models for systems including Ads/RecSys/Search.
• Be familiar with model optimization methods and tricks, and be familiar with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow/ps-lite/PyTorch)
• Familiar with one or more of the following programming languages: Python/Golang/Java/C++
• Be familiar with the Hadoop ecosystem, and be familiar with modern data processing stacks (e.g. Hive, Presto, Spark, Kafka, HBase, Flink etc.)
• Strong understanding of statistics, data analysis, and data visualization techniques.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a team-oriented mindset, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

The Nice-to-Haves

• Be proactive and always be ready to tackle challenging tasks.
  Collaborating with multiple teams to facilitate rapid growth and development.
• Be familiar with user behavior modeling, feature crossing technique, bid optimization strategy including oCPC, and keyword recommendation.
