Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Directs a mechanical engineering group responsible for the design, development and implementation of complete engineering programs in accordance with project budgets and release schedules. Responsible for professional development, team building, defining organizational roles, hiring and retention.
• Works with senior business group management team to ensure that such programs, strategies, and processes are aligned with the organization’s direction
• Anticipates future needs and initiates the development and implementation of new approaches to mechanical engineering design and development
• Interfaces with internal and external customers on unusually complex mechanical engineering issues to address customers High Value Problems (HVP) for the unit's product line
• Develops long-range plans and creates mechanical engineering or product specific strategies to reach goals and reviews engineering specifications
• Defines performance metrics and reports on the mechanical engineering groups progress against specific goals
• Provides approval guidelines and leadership to reporting engineering managers in the area of long-term program, strategy, and process design
• Assures that a full range of technical reviews are held for the unit's product line

• Applies broad industry and commercial awareness to drive financial and operational performance across business unit, department or sub-functions
