Job Description

AI Singapore (AISG) is a national AI programme launched by the National Research Foundation (NRF) to anchor deep national capabilities in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The programme office is hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and brings together all Singapore-based research institutions and the vibrant ecosystem of AI start-ups and companies developing AI products to perform use-inspired research, grow the knowledge, create the tools, and develop the talent to power Singapore's AI efforts.

We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join AI Singapore to lead the evaluation efforts in the Applied Research for Foundation Models team in AI Products.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Support the development of NLP products for Southeast Asian languages, with a focus on foundation models and linguistically-motivated approaches.
• Aid efforts on the fine-tuning, alignment and reasoning of large language models, including research, experimentation, implementation and data creation where applicable.
• Keep abreast of latest developments in NLP for low-resource languages, evaluation approaches etc.
• Collaborate with various parties both within and outside of Singapore on research and software development

Qualifications

• Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or Computational Linguistics
• Background in Linguistics is highly preferred
• Competency in a Southeast Asian language, or knowledge of multiple languages is strongly preferred
• Familiar with modern NLP models, including transformer architectures and large language models
• Familiar with fine-tuning and alignment techniques related to chain-of-thought generation and reasoning in LLMs
• Familiar with NLP evaluation methods and metrics
• Experienced in NLP model implementations based on PyTorch or Tensorflow/Keras, with some exposure to the setting up of end-to-end pipelines from data preparation to deployment
• Fluent in Python, but other languages such as Java, C++ or Javascript will be a bonus
• Have a good grasp of the fundamentals of Machine Learning
• Knowledge and experience in Software Engineering will be beneficial (e.g. Agile framework, Frontend/Backend development, Git)
• Some knowledge of DevOps (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD) will be a plus
• Team player with good communication skills and passion for technology

Responsibilities

1. Responsible for the technical research of large language models related to Bigo's business scenarios including but not limited to pre-training, SFT (Supervised Fine-Tuning), and RLHF (Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback).

2. Implement large model landing in conjunction with the business scenarios, including data construction, large model evaluation, prompt design, and AI agent development.

3. Keep up with the latest advancements in large-model technology, and be responsible for the development and engineering implementation of related technologies, accelerating the landing and optimization of cutting-edge large-model technology in business scenarios such as live broadcasting, short video, and instant messaging.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Mathematics, or related fields.

• Strong engineering implementation ability, proficient in at least one deep learning framework (such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.).

• Good learning ability, teamwork, and communication skills.

• Experience in LLM pre-training, SFT, RLHF, Prompt, AI agent, etc. is preferred.

• Priority will be given to those who have published papers in internationally renowned AI conferences or have won awards in ACM competitions.

Duties & Responsibilities

● Develop NLP products for NLP Hub
● Perform literature review of academic machine learning papers
● Reproduce, test and enhance algorithms from research papers
● Collaborate with external parties
● Develop machine learning models and/or refactor codes for integration into our NLP Bricks
● Be involved in the deployment process
● Keep abreast of latest developments in NLP

Qualifications

● Degree/Master in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent practical experience
● Familiar with NLP tasks and modern NLP models
● Fluent in Python, PyTorch, Hugging Face, AllenNLP and related nlp libraries
● Experience in building and improving NLP deep learning models
● Experience working with container services such as Dockers and Kubernetes
● Experience working with Git, RESTful API
