We are seeking an experienced Turret Engineer Manager to lead and manage engineering teams responsible for the design, analysis, and execution of turret systems, primarily in the oil and gas sector. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in turret systems and mooring design, with at least 15 years of experience in the field. This role involves overseeing the technical aspects of projects, ensuring the integrity and compliance of designs, and interfacing with clients, classification societies, and various stakeholders. You will be responsible for checking drawings, calculations, and analysis to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering Leadership:
Lead, manage, and mentor a team of engineers in the design, analysis, and installation of turret systems and associated mooring systems. Ensure technical excellence and quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Mooring System Expertise:
Provide in-depth technical expertise on mooring systems for floating platforms, including design, analysis, and integrity management. Ensure designs meet client specifications, classification society standards, and industry best practices.
- Project Management:
Oversee engineering projects from conception to delivery, including managing schedules, budgets, resources, and deliverables. Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and clients to ensure projects are completed as per specifications.
- Technical Reviews & Analysis:
Conduct and oversee the review of engineering calculations, designs, and technical documentation. Ensure that all calculations and drawings are accurate, meet the required standards, and are approved by relevant stakeholders.
- Client Interface:
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, understanding their needs and ensuring engineering solutions meet their expectations.Prepare and deliver technical presentations, reports, and updates to clients as necessary.
- Classification Society Interface:
Manage interactions with classification societies, ensuring that all designs and systems meet classification requirements and industry regulations. Facilitate the approval process for turret and mooring systems.
- Basis of Design:
Develop and review the Basis of Design (BoD) documents, ensuring that all assumptions, parameters, and design methodologies are clearly defined and adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Ensure that all engineering activities are carried out in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations. Ensure the delivery of high-quality designs and solutions that meet operational and safety standards.
- Continuous Improvement:
Lead efforts to improve engineering processes, tools, and methodologies within the turret engineering team. Encourage innovation and adoption of new technologies to enhance project efficiency and safety.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience:
Minimum 15 years of experience in turret engineering, with a strong focus on mooring systems in the oil and gas industry. Experience with both design and installation phases of turret and mooring systems is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of turret systems, mooring analysis, and related offshore structures.
- Expertise in engineering calculations, structural analysis, and design review.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and codes (e.g., DNV, ABS, API).
- Experience/familiar with engineering software tools such as Femap/Nastran, Ansys, Orcaflex, and other analysis software.
- Project Management Skills:
Proven track record of managing engineering projects, with experience in scheduling, budgeting, and resource management. PMP or equivalent project management certification is a plus.
- Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interface with clients, contractors, and classification societies.
- Regulatory Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of classification society rules and regulations for turret and mooring systems, as well as offshore industry safety and operational standards.
- Problem Solving:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail. Able to navigate complex engineering challenges and deliver solutions.
- Leadership:
Proven leadership capabilities with experience in managing and mentoring a team of engineers. Able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Travel:
Willingness to travel as required for site visits, client meetings, and offshore assessments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a related engineering field.
- Experience with offshore installation and commissioning of turret and mooring systems.
