The Role
As the Research Senior Associate / Research Analyst, you will work closely with the Play Ventures investment team to explore new markets, uncover investment opportunities and support our strategic efforts. You will be starting up the research function within Play Ventures which gives you the opportunity to build a team around you in the future if and when the need arises. You’ll also be instrumental in deepening our understanding of the gaming and consumer ecosystem and adjacent spaces, from emerging technologies to innovative business models. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-impact venture fund while developing expertise in gaming, consumer, and technology markets.
You Will
- Research and analyze markets to identify trends and opportunities related to our current investment focus, and help to identify potential future interest areas
- Evaluate companies, products and technologies that will help inform our investment strategy, creating concise market maps and actionable insights.
- Support the investment team in developing investment theses, conducting research on companies, including competitive analysis and expert interviews, case studies, etc.
- Stay up-to-date on global affairs and industry developments, surfacing key insights and sharing knowledge across the team which may include creating reports for internal and external sharing, presentations, workshops, etc.
You Need
- 3-5+ years of experience in market research, consulting, investment analysis or a related role
- Experience with research and analysis tools including PitchBook, Crunchbase, Newzoo, Sensor Tower, Preqin, Bloomberg, Dow Jones and Excel for market analysis, competitive insights and data visualization.
- A strong interest in gaming, consumer tech or emerging technologies.
- Ability to approach and lead research on a market or segment of interest both from a top-down approach and a bottom-up approach, with minimal direction and instruction
- Analytical and robust quantitative and qualitative research skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights and collaborate effectively in a distributed team.
- Self-motivation and entrepreneurial spirit, with the ability to drive and manage multiple priorities independently.
