Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, drive and monitor APAC’s sustainability and ESG compliance programme.
• Actively engage subsidiaries across the region to ensure regulators’ expectations are met where sustainability and ESG are concerned.
• Support the management of sustainability and ESG policies and procedures, including developing and advising on new policies for identifying, managing, and monitoring environmental and social risks; and ensuring that they remain relevant and effective in building firm-wide resilience, as well as aligned with regulations and market best practices.
• Work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to help define and drive the implementation of sustainability and ESG related frameworks, policies and guidelines.
• Support efforts to coordinate and standardise ESG risk and compliance processes and procedures across the region to ensure consistency and efficiency.
• Facilitate awareness and capacity building on ESG risk management within the Bank.
• Act as a point of escalation for complex risk and compliance issues, providing support as needed.
• Engage subsidiaries in the region to ensure prompt adoption and localisation of the Group ESG policies and to ensure compliance with Group core standards.
• Provide support on internal business units-led sustainability initiatives and collaborating with the business units in enhancing the Bank’s sustainability communication through all available channels.
• Work with internal stakeholders to collate information for various sustainability related communications and reporting requirements for the region.

Key Attributes and Skills :

• Minimum 7 years working experience in a corporate sustainability, ESG policy and compliance, ESG risk management or relevant discipline – with at least 2 years’ experience working in a sustainability or ESG role within the banking sector or a consultancy.
• Relevant academic studies in environmental management, environmental law, ESG law and policy, climate change, sustainable development, sustainable finance (a master’s degree is preferred).
• In-depth understanding of sustainability, ESG and environmental risk topics, international reporting standards and frameworks, regulatory trends in Asia, as well as industry best practices.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing sustainability and ESG compliance programmes, policies and controls in the banking sector.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Possesses professional and interpersonal skills to establish good working relationships with stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently as well as within the team
• Ability to multi-task, prioritise and work under tight deadlines.

Job responsibilities :

1. Assist FCG’s Regulatory Reporting team ("RRT") to ensure compliance with the relevant Banking Act and MAS regulations.
2. Technical familiarity with Accounting/Risk, Local Accounting Standard and Local Regulatory Reporting and Submission Portal.
3. Reviewer/(preparer) role of Local Regulatory Reporting and MAS queries as assigned.
4. Investigate and report discrepancies and irregularities noted in the course of work and resolve issues.

Job responsibilities:

To support the achievement of Credit Department goals. These include:

• Timely assessment of credit applications (including financial projections and market risks; where needed, provide guidance with front office business teams re content of draft credit applications) to meet SMBC's business requirements with balanced/ sound credit decisions and/or recommendations as the case may be; the foregoing includes preparing concise summary paper of the relevant credit application and (on a specific needs basis) supporting other teams in Credit Department.
• Cooperating/ working closely with and supporting front office business teams, including reviewing and/or structuring complex transactions, terms and conditions, as well as reviewing analysis, content of credit application and proposed risk mitigants while recognising and respecting the difference in responsibilities between first and second lines of defence.

Key requirements:

• Min. 5 years experience within either front office business team or credit department a financial institution.
• Experience in one of the following products is highly desirable: leveraged/ LBO financing, non-recourse real estate financing, non-recourse fund NAV financing, or fund hedging.
• Tertiary degree/ qualification in a related field, e.g. degree in finance and accounting or economics.
• Certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst will be helpful and preferred.
• Ability to review/ interpret financial statements and review the reasonability of business projections is key.
• Advanced profiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) is preferred.

• Provide administrative and business support to Relationship Managers on KYC related matters servicing Corporate Banking clients
• Conduct annual KYC reviews/ trigger reviews within stipulated timeframe and with minimal reworks
• Conduct onboarding/offboarding of corporate clients in accordance with KYC and due diligence requirements
• Review and ensure documents collected for KYCs are complete and properly certified in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements
• Perform due diligence checks on clients using external and internal platforms and database
• Conduct risk assessments to address on trigger events and for existing clients applying for new account and facilities
• Review daily AML alerts escalated to business units and ensure prompt and timely closure of alerts
• Provide account services support in the areas of account documentation review for clients during onboarding, maintenance, and closure as well as system update
