Your key responsibilities:

As part of our global team you will work on various components as a Lead Software Engineer. Your role includes specification, development, as well as the testing and rollout of new features. You are expected to contribute to the vision, understand our product roadmap, integrate business value with experience and contribute to building an engineering culture within the team. We expect the successful candidate to deliver high quality software and to be passionate about software engineering. You must have a proficient understanding of software development concepts. A good understanding of Cloud concepts.

• Ownership and oversee development of application in alignment with the target architecture as per Domain and Enterprise Architecture blueprint.
• Provide technical expertise on the development of software and platform features, ensuring that appropriate security and risk factors are considered.
• Engage with business to understand the high-level requirements and propose the solution.
• Engage with Functional Analysts to help them in putting the right functional solution.
• Develop the high-level solution & design documents for all requirements.
• Validate all the NFR expected as part of business requirement is met in the actual implementation.
• Monitor the results and quality of the different software solutions and projects implemented.
• Coding and testing, reviewing other team member’s changes.

Your skills and experience

• Minimum 12 years of working experience in general programming language such as Java (Eg: Java 8+)
• Experience in leading a team of developers providing technical leadership and people management.
• Experience in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, front end frameworks such as React and or Angular.
• Hands-on experience building Microservices including writing Unit and Integration tests using Spring Boot, Cloud, and other relevant frameworks.
• Knowledge of Application, data and infrastructure architecture principles and design patterns
• Understanding of architecture and design across all systems
• Understanding and Hands-on experience in applying the Event Driven Pattern of microservices such as CQRS
• Knowledge on the Distributed Messaging platform such as Apache Kafka
• Exposure to functional / Reactive programming is mandatory and working knowledge of functional programming in Java
• Hands-on experience working on cloud native applications on platforms such as Kubernetes, Azure, RedHat OpenShift
• Hands on usage of Git for source code management, integrating GitHub repos with Artifactory and using same for GCP deployments by implementing CI/CD pipelines.

The Opportunity

We own, evolve and support the technology platforms that handle the post-execution processing for the Securities Execution, Prime Clearing, and Prime Brokerage businesses. This includes exchange and broker trade processing, internal firm/firm trades and client delivery across physical and synthetic products. We are at the start of a multi-year convergence program to deliver all of these businesses onto a single, high scalable platform, enabling business growth with reduced operational costs.

About the team

Our team consists of 19 people in Singapore and around 100 globally. Almost all of our projects are cross-location and cross-function, meaning we work directly with Front Office, Operations, Legal, Tax, and our Engineering colleagues from those areas, across the wider firm.

We work directly with Operations and Securities sales/trading, to design and implement, a wide range of functions including trade aggregators, trade matchers, payment systems, intercompany trade booking and settlement systems, and connectivity to exchanges, counterparties and vendors. Our Exception Workflow and Business Intelligence tooling allows our Operations teams to respond to client enquiries and monitor service levels.

Our Post Execution platform consists of a variety of applications that demand high throughput, performance and availability, including our strategic new Post Execution Sequencer platform which is a brand new/greenfield initiative to converge all of our businesses onto a single technology platform, to have much better scalability, improved resiliency and reducing the time needed to develop and deliver new features.

This is a unique opportunity to work on converging multiple legacy systems and execute on the Ledgers strategy to move a single Unified Data source and provide ledgers as a service across the firm. About the team

Ledgers Engineering is a part of a growing team in Singapore that collaborates with colleagues around the world to deliver our new strategic post trade portfolio platform and build the next generation platform.

We are a fully data centric function that is responsible for managing the Books and Records for the firm. All client activities and position management are taken care by our highly scalable systems that deal with about 100 million transactions daily. The data we produce is distributed to numerous consumers for performing various business functions.

Our strategic new platform is a brand new/greenfield initiative to converge all of our businesses onto a single technology platform, to proving much better scalability, improved resiliency and reducing the time needed to develop and deliver new features. The programme is sponsored by our division’s senior leadership and is one of the key strategic deliveries of the next few years.

All our projects are cross-location and cross-function. We work directly with Front office, Mid-office, Operations, Legal, Tax, Client Reporting and Regulatory Reporting and Engineering colleagues directly and that gives the opportunity to learn about the financial markets and asset classes.

The team is also responsible for generating the client statements, interest calculations and anomaly detection from daily activity across all Goldman Sachs. We use leading edge technologies for the data management and distribution such as Apache Iceberg and Snowflake. The anomaly detection platform uses bigdata technologies for detecting and reporting trade anomalies from the significant volume of data.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

This is a unique opportunity to work on converging multiple legacy systems and execute on the Ledgers strategy to move a single Unified Data source and provide ledgers as a service across the firm. About the team

Ledgers Engineering is a part of a growing team in Singapore that collaborates with colleagues around the world to deliver our new strategic post trade portfolio platform and build the next generation platform.

We are a fully data centric function that is responsible for managing the Books and Records for the firm. All client activities and position management are taken care by our highly scalable systems that deal with about 100 million transactions daily. The data we produce is distributed to numerous consumers for performing various business functions.

Our strategic new platform is a brand new/greenfield initiative to converge all of our businesses onto a single technology platform, to proving much better scalability, improved resiliency and reducing the time needed to develop and deliver new features. The programme is sponsored by our division’s senior leadership and is one of the key strategic deliveries of the next few years.

All our projects are cross-location and cross-function. We work directly with Front office, Mid-office, Operations, Legal, Tax, Client Reporting and Regulatory Reporting and Engineering colleagues directly and that gives the opportunity to learn about the financial markets and asset classes.

The team is also responsible for generating the client statements, interest calculations and anomaly detection from daily activity across all Goldman Sachs. We use leading edge technologies for the data management and distribution such as Apache Iceberg and Snowflake. ABOUT REGULATORY ENGINEERING

Regulatory Engineering and the associated technology team are responsible for protecting this reputation through taking responsibility for the reporting of all of the firm’s activities to the many regulators throughout the world. In order to achieve this, the team processes all of the firm’s activity, be it securities or derivatives, within each of the jurisdictions in which the firm operates. The candidate will be part of the global team with presence in New York, London, Warsaw, Bangalore, Singapore and Tokyo.

• Work closely with technology and strategy teams across the firm to build high quality, secure, and maintainable systems using approved tools and software development practices.
• You will partner with the global technology and business teams to develop and implement solutions to fulfil regulatory obligations of the firm.
• Manage relationship and workflows with multiple stakeholders and enhance business understanding in a cross product role.
• Analyse key performance metrics, monitoring success of initiatives, optimizing the approach and reporting to key stakeholders.

SKILL / EXPERIENCE

Technical

• 3+ years’ experience with a proven track record in designing and implementing Real time distributed processing systems and event processing architecture.
• Experience in BigData processing platform/tools like Hadoop and Spark is preferred.
• Focus on software quality – ability to write clean code and encourage others to do so.
• Experience with near real time transactional systems with NoSQL databases (Kafka, Elastic Search).
• Excellent problem solving and Design skills.
• Experience in BPMN and user workflow based systems is preferred.
• Experience with JavaScript based web development e.g. Angular / ReactJS.
• Good knowledge of testing frameworks (JUnit/Testing/Fitnesse) and concepts (Test Driven Development, Regression and Parametric Testing).
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms and designing for performance and resiliency.

Relevant

• Demonstrates strong oral, written, and presentation skills. Substantial degree of interaction with clients to provide technical solutions.
• Able to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously and executes projects independently. Agile Methodology planning is preferred.
• Experience in leading development teams with multiple global stakeholders.
• Provides guidance to other team members and teams on a project basis.
