The Opportunity

We own, evolve and support the technology platforms that handle the post-execution processing for the Securities Execution, Prime Clearing, and Prime Brokerage businesses. This includes exchange and broker trade processing, internal firm/firm trades and client delivery across physical and synthetic products. We are at the start of a multi-year convergence program to deliver all of these businesses onto a single, high scalable platform, enabling business growth with reduced operational costs.

We’re looking for highly technical, commercially minded, software engineers who enjoy seeing things done differently to join us on this exciting journey.

About the team

Our team consists of 19 people in Singapore and around 100 globally. Almost all of our projects are cross-location and cross-function, meaning we work directly with Front Office, Operations, Legal, Tax, and our Engineering colleagues from those areas, across the wider firm.

We work directly with Operations and Securities sales/trading, to design and implement, a wide range of functions including trade aggregators, trade matchers, payment systems, intercompany trade booking and settlement systems, and connectivity to exchanges, counterparties and vendors. Our Exception Workflow and Business Intelligence tooling allows our Operations teams to respond to client enquiries and monitor service levels.

Our Post Execution platform consists of a variety of applications that demand high throughput, performance and availability, including our strategic new Post Execution Sequencer platform which is a brand new/greenfield initiative to converge all of our businesses onto a single technology platform, to have much better scalability, improved resiliency and reducing the time needed to develop and deliver new features.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL -

You Will:

• Use your analytical ability and decision-making skills to arrive at creative and user-oriented solutions.
• Work with key stakeholders, operations, and other development teams delivering scalable exception-monitoring solutions to our middle office teams.
• Drive the architectural design and technical execution of the engineering needs of the equities businesses.
• Take responsibility for project delivery as well as wider ownership in our functional area.
• Design and build frameworks including automated testing through collaboration with global cross-functional teams.

You Are:

• Strong Full-stack developer enjoys working in a client driven and agile environment passionate in implementing customizable user interfaces.
• Self-motivated and able to work in small, fast-paced, high-impact team(s) developing low latency, scalable and resilient solutions.
• Comfortable multi-tasking, managing multiple stakeholders and working as part of a global team.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR –

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of responsive web development, with professional React hooks experience and advanced JavaScript / Typescript proficiency.
• Experience with grid-based layouts, eg. ag-grid and flexible layouts.
• Solid experience in and strong desire on building highly efficient and performant UI code
• Building web socket-based (and/or REST API) integration with server-side.
• Desire to build strong and efficient SDLC practices.
• Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with a hands-on experience of debugging and optimizing code, as well as automation.
• Strong interpersonal skills and drive. Excellent communication skills required, able to contribute to discussions on design and strategy

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience with Java or similar object oriented language (e.g. C++, C#, Scala, Python).
• Financial market knowledge is a plus
• Experience leading/managing a small team of developers

ABOUT REGULATORY ENGINEERING

Regulatory Engineering and the associated technology team are responsible for protecting this reputation through taking responsibility for the reporting of all of the firm’s activities to the many regulators throughout the world. In order to achieve this, the team processes all of the firm’s activity, be it securities or derivatives, within each of the jurisdictions in which the firm operates. The candidate will be part of the global team with presence in New York, London, Warsaw, Bangalore, Singapore and Tokyo.

How will you fulfill your potential?

• Work closely with technology and strategy teams across the firm to build high quality, secure, and maintainable systems using approved tools and software development practices.
• You will partner with the global technology and business teams to develop and implement solutions to fulfil regulatory obligations of the firm.

SKILL / EXPERIENCE

MANDATORY

Technical

· 8+ years’ experience with a proven track record in designing and implementing scalable architecture.

• Experience in BigData processing platform/tools like Hadoop and Spark is preferred.
• Strong Expertise in dealing with low latency, near real time event based reporting architecture,
• Excellent problem solving and Design skills.
• Experience in BPMN and user workflow based systems is preferred.
• Experience with JavaScript based web development e.g. Angular / ReactJS.
• Good knowledge of testing frameworks (JUnit/Testing/Fitnesse) and concepts (Test Driven Development, Regression and Parametric Testing).
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms and designing for performance and resiliency.

· Real Time Processing systems with throughput and reliability, Web services and good concepts of SOA.

· Demonstrated history of successful technical project lifecycle management, including testing and deployment

• Experience working with messaging and parallel transaction processing systems

Relevant

• Able to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously and executes projects independently. Responsible for the work plan management, task management, cost control and supervision of people on those projects
• Demonstrates strong oral, written, and presentation skills. Substantial degree of interaction with clients to provide technical solutions
• Provides guidance to other team members and teams on a project basis

· Strong team player who must be able to listen, explain and help. Will be working with a global development team.

· Self-starter who must be able to take a loosely expressed problem or requirement to the final well analysed solution fitting the global tax ops technology architecture

· Strong analytical, communications and client-facing skills

PREFERRED

· 8+ years’ technology experience (preferably in a financial institution)

· Knowledge of financial markets would be an advantage
