Overview:
Treasury is an established function within the Finance division at Nomura. The department has regional teams in Japan, AEJ, EMEA and the US. The team is responsible for all aspects of liquidity and funding requirements of the firm in accordance with the Executive Management Boards mandated risk appetite and in compliance with regulatory liquidity metrics.
Role Description
Reporting to the AeJ Head of Funding, the VP, Treasury Funding will be responsible for the equities treasury executions, cash and liquidity management, funding arrangements for trade settlement & working capital, treasury reporting & process management; treasury reconciliations & investigation and managing external/internal treasury relationships.
Other duties include:
- Execute currency FX & SWAPs on behalf of Clients and internal group entities.
- Manage daily cash funding projections for APAC markets.
- Specific knowledge required for Japan market, HK market, China Stock Connect market and Singapore market.
- Calculate and monitor the margin collateral requirement for these markets.
- Perform funding strategies during high trading volumes and trading event dates.
- Provide advice & support to traders on funding cost related inquires.
- Prepare daily funding costs and fees analysis report to AEJ Treasury.
- Work closely with Finance on regulatory capital requirements in HK and SG, arrange funding within HK entities or with US to comply with capital requirements in HK and SG.
- Arrange for intercompany loans & sub-loans to/ from entities and AEJ Treasury, long term versus short term.
- Hedge and manage forex risk for in-house foreign currency accounts in accordance to local market rules and restrictions.
- Manage stock borrowing & lending collateral payment, reconciliation and MTM exposure. Arrangement settlement of collateral with lender.
- Prepare daily cash flow and capital usage report to AEJ Treasury.
- Maintain strong documentation of policy and procedures on Cash & liquidity management.
- Align AEJ Treasury Goals with Regional Business Strategies & Global Treasury’s objectives.
- Involvement in AEJ Treasury projects and related Group Treasury projects.
Requirements
- Degree from an accredited University
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a financial institution in a treasury function supporting corporate divisions and front-line businesses in treasury products execution.
- Experience in APAC equities markets, settlement funding, margin collateral management, hedging of Asian currencies, capital cash and liquidity risk management.
- Experience in FXALL system, External Bank FX systems, Oracle, PeopleSoft systems and Venom system.
- Written and verbal skills in English, Cantonese and/or Mandarin is required as the role requires communication with external parties and counterparts in Hong Kong
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Results-oriented and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good organization and time management skills. Should be able to work under time pressure.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
