Meta seeks a highly motivated, experienced lawyer to serve as Lead Counsel, Competition and Regulatory. This position will help manage the company’s legal position and strategy on competition and regulatory related product and business strategies.

The position is based at the company’s Singapore or Sydney office.

Responsibilities

• Represent the company in connection with regulatory inquiries and engagements encompassing competition frameworks
• Work with a cross-functional team to develop and implement long-term competition strategy
• Help develop and execute legal advice assessing impact of competition laws and emerging regulations on current and planned product and business initiatives
• Provide teams across the company with counsel and advice on competition matters

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years post-qualification legal experience
• Significant competition experience, including in-depth knowledge of competition frameworks and engagement with applicable regulatory bodies in investigative, inquiry and/or merger review contexts
• Experience representing technology companies in regulatory matters strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience in developing innovative and pragmatic approaches and business-focused solutions to regulatory challenges and developments
• Proven interpersonal skills with an absolute commitment to professionalism and collegiality
• Appropriately licensed and authorized to practice law as an in-house attorney

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with APAC and European antitrust laws and regulators
• Proficiency in an additional Asian language as the role will involve engaging with external stakeholders in multiple APAC jurisdictions

Qualifications and Experience:

• Qualified lawyer, with approximately 10 years of extensive experience in corporate compliance, ethics, and legal functions, ideally in global maritime or related sectors.
• Strong knowledge of international compliance regulations, including sanctions, anti-bribery laws, and data protection.
• Proven track record in risk management, compliance system implementation, and training development.

Business development and stakeholder engagement

• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including clients, law firms, arbitration institutions, and professional networks.
• Represent Maxwell Chambers at industry events, conferences, and seminars, both locally and internationally, to enhance brand awareness and generate leads.
• Coordinate with the marketing and events team to ensure a seamless integration of sales efforts with outreach and engagement initiatives.

Event planning and programming

• Collaborate on event programming to ensure alignment with Maxwell Chambers’ strategic objectives and audience needs.

Legal and corporate communications

• Oversee internal and external corporate communications, including preparing press releases and handling media relations.

Data and market insights

• Evaluate data and statistical trends to inform sales and marketing strategies.
• Use data-driven insights to measure the success of initiatives and refine approaches for better outcomes.

Flexibility and other responsibilities

• Perform other duties or projects assigned by the Chief Strategy Officer.

Qualifications and experience:

• A Law Degree (LLB or equivalent); experience in international arbitration is advantageous.
• Minimum of 2 years or equivalent relevant legal work experience.
• Proven experience in sales, marketing, and business development, preferably in the legal or professional services sector.
• Strong understanding of policy, research, and market trends, especially in dispute resolution and arbitration.
• Data analysis and statistical skills to evaluate trends and inform strategic decisions.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
• Proactive and organized, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Job Summary:

Job Scope:

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements related to FEED/EPC projects.

• Identify and advise on legal risks, providing recommendations for risk mitigation.
• Oversee litigation and other contentious matters in the region.

Requirement:

• Bachelor of Legislative Laws/Master of Law with 3-7 years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
• Bar qualification from a Commonwealth jurisdiction, ideally Singapore.
• In-house legal experience in the EPC, utilities, power, or infrastructure sectors is preferred, but experience in a construction or projects-focused law firm is also beneficial.
• Exposure to project execution and dispute resolution is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well both independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in a multinational setting is advantageous, and familiarity with Japanese corporate culture is a plus.

Requirements :

• Degree or Diploma
• At least 2 years AML experience in banking/FI is preferred
