The role of the Engineer – Robotics & Automation is to design and develop various automation & robotics system to help increase the labor productivity of the GE MRO Shop and eliminate high labor content non-value work. The candidate will work in the Singapore Automation and Robotics Centre of Excellence.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Work with end-users and analyze user needs to develop concept, design, test, implementation, debug and commission customized semi and fully automatic machines to improve labor productivity, improve process efficiency, reduce quality defects, improve safety & overcoming repair technical challenges in fast-paced production shops.
- Develop new ideas and concept to enhance company’s performance and competitiveness in the field of industrial automation and robotics
- Perform prototype design, assembly, testing and troubleshooting.
- Support troubleshooting, investigation and implement improvement solutions of production process equipment, systems related to quality and safety issues
- Work closely with cross-functional teams and customers to develop work plan, deliverables, required resources, monitor project activities, budget, and timing for new initiatives
- Generate and outline project schedule to keep all stakeholders up-to-date promptly.
- Work with external vendors and system integrators to deliver Automated and Robotic equipment
Qualifications/ Requirements:
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- At least 3years experience in mechanical design of customized automated systems.
- A track record of prototyping, delivering new and custom design automated equipment in production environment.
- Experience of customized automated machine design.
- Good knowledge experience using 3D modeling software such as Solidworks, Creo or NX
- Experience in mechanical drafting practices and a working knowledge of terms, rules, and applications of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Good understanding of material selections, machined part fabrication and processes
- Good and strong knowledge in designing and troubleshooting pneumatic circuit is a must.
- Must have strong knowledge in handling different phases of project management in Automation Equipment Design.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills
- Prior experience in leading a team.
- Able to perform work under relatively stressful environment.
- Knowledge of industrial robots’ applications would be an advantage
- Experience in machine programming (control and/or vision) is a plus
