The candidate will report to Head of Social Work and Psychosocial Services and holds a dotted line reporting relationship to the Service Head (if attached outside of inpatient services).
Job Description
- Render professional psycho-emotional, social and spiritual care and support to patients and their significant others and, in doing so, help them lead more meaningful and satisfying lives in the context of the situation where the death of a family member is imminent.
- Play an active role in the planning and execution of the activities of the Hospice that promotes the objectives and the mission of the Hospice.
- Assist in the development of policies and protocol related to the delivery of clinical services and recommend organizational and system changes in order to position the hospice as a leader in hospice palliative care.
- Engage, train and supervise volunteers in specific areas of patient care together with the Volunteer Programme Manager.
- Organise and conduct workshops for community partners.
- Promote the practice and use of palliative care by undertaking educational, research and outreach activities as assigned from time to time.
- Be prepared for job rotation around the different programmes or services, e.g. Inpatient, Home Care and Programme Dignity to address different patients’ needs and optimise manpower resources.
- Participate in the organisation of memorial service, support groups, outings and any other ad-hoc projects assigned by management.
- Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor and management from time to time.
Requirements
- Degree in Social Work / Counselling or relevant formal qualifications from a recognised university.
- Preferably 1-2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare environment.
- Good Interpersonal and communication skills.
- Energetic, committed and enjoy working as a team.
