Duties & Responsibilities

• Assesses residents' existing functional capabilities and future potential, determines range of upper limb movement, ability to transfer, balance, strength and coordination, endurance, ability to cope with the activities of daily living, cognitive perceptual functions, behavior and social skills.
• Training In the improvement of ADL skills.
• Exercises, hand/eye coordination and graded activities to improve strength and range of motion and increase dexterity in the upper limbs.
• Training in works simplification techniques.
• Prescription and fabrication of assisted/adaptive devices/splints to restore/increase function and train residents to use the devices.
• Cognitive and perceptual re-training using sensory stimulation techniques
• Evaluates the accessibility and the environmental barriers within the nursing home and the residents' homes (for those who can be discharge) and recommends modification needs for the residents greater independence.

Requirements

• Recognized Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy, AHPC registration required.
• 2 - 5 years experience is advantageous.
• Excellent clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in electronic medical records and other healthcare technology.
• Meticulous, detailed in work and able to handle deadlines and stress.
• Be prepared to perform other duties as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilties

• Perform all nursing procedures, which include administration of medications, wound dressing, and meal feeding.
• Assist Senior/ Staff Nurses during the treatment and examination of residents.
• Accompany residents to participate in daily group exercises.
• Any other duties as assigned by the Senior/Nurse Manager and Staff Nurses.
• Participate in relevant quality improvement and assessment activities.

• Develop and design comprehensive training programs, workshops, and educational materials tailored to the specific needs of our nursing staff, incorporating best practices, evidence-based guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate and deliver orientation programs for new nursing staff members, ensuring they are introduced to the nursing home's policies, procedures, and quality standards.
• Identify learning needs and gaps among nursing staff and develop strategies to address them through continuing education programs.
• Assess and enhance the clinical skills and competencies of nursing staff through skills training, simulation exercises, and hands-on workshops.
• Collaborate with the quality assurance team to identify opportunities for improvement in nursing practices and develop educational initiatives to address them.
• Stay up to date with federal, state, and local regulations related to nursing education and ensure that the nursing home's educational programs are in compliance.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in any discipline, preferably in Health care.
• 8 - 10 years relevant working experience.
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure from SNB and TTT certified.
• Proven experience in nursing education, staff development, or training in a healthcare setting, preferably in a nursing home or long-term care facility
• Excellent teaching and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex medical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with nursing staff, interdisciplinary teams, and external stakeholders.
