What's the role?

The Company Financials Markets team is looking for a Senior Data Management Professional who can combine deep subject matter expertise and advanced technical skills to own and develop data-driven strategies and workflows around exchanges and 3rd party data providers. You are expected to take advantage of these knowledge and skills to drive workflow strategies, deliver best-in-class user and technical workflows and better incorporate humans in the automation pipelines that eventually help shape and build fit-for-purpose Company Financials products. Coupled with good communication and stakeholder management skills, you will also be working very closely with partners across PD&T, including Product Managers, Engineering teams as well as other Company Financials Industries and Cross-function teams to meet the needs of our external and internal clients.

We'll trust you to:

• Develop data-driven strategies, balancing the best of technical, product, financial and Market knowledge, and work with our engineering and product departments to craft solutions
• Own the reliable and efficient workflows around the exchanges and 3rd party data providers such as document acquisition and structured/unstructured contents processing, utilizing programming, machine learning and/or human-in-the-loop approaches.
• Analyze workflows to identify critical observability checkpoints to ensure delivery of the fit-for-purpose data on market basis; design and build efficient, maintainable and scalable solutions to facilitate monitoring, reporting and alerting across markets.
• Analyze market specific workstreams to identify opportunities for improvement and/or consolidation by leveraging technical knowledge of Bloomberg's proprietary or open-source stacks.
• Communicate and collaborate across team members and complementary teams including Engineering, Product, and Bloomberg Intelligence
• Develop interconnected data models that enable analysis across datasets and develop statistical analysis.

You'll need to have:

• Minimum 4+ years of experience in the financial/fintech services industry, including exchanges, market data providers or financial technology institutions
• Minimum 4+ years of experience working in a data engineering role or related fields such data quality, data modeling, or data architecture
• Experience implementing high volume, low-latency ETL pipelines and proven track record of managing data lifecycle
• A bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, or relevant data technology field, or degree-equivalent qualifications
• Demonstrated experience working with Python in development or production environment
• Familiarity with various databases, schemas, modeling, as well as structured and unstructured formats (PDF, HTML, XBRL, JSON, CSV etc.)
• Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize and adapt to tasks accordingly with a customer focused mentality
• Powerful collaboration skills to work across departments and regions, excellent written and verbal communication skills

The Team:

Our Events and Transcripts Data team is seeking a Data Engineer to help us drive the data set forward. The team provides our users with complete, accurate and timely company events and transcripts information. We partner closely with the Product, Engineering, Sales and News areas to create data products to support the numerous use cases that our clients heavily rely on to drive their workflows. Cross-functional collaboration, deep domain knowledge, thoughtful automation, and data management expertise are paramount for our ability to continuously deliver high quality fit for need data to our rapidly growing customer base.

The Role:

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for finance, data, and technology to increase value from our data product. In this role, you will need to understand our customers’ needs and develops strategies to optimize the value of both Calendar events and Transcripts data for our customers and improve data operations. You will be a technical leader in this team, devising solutions for data challenges and solving problems with necessary technical solutions that you build. You will work together with quality point persons to integrate our solution into the wider architecture. You will join a distributed team of dedicated individuals and experts where your interests and passion will have a significant impact on the team’s success.

We trust you to:

• Build and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines to support the ingestion, transformation, and loading of vast amounts of data from various sources using Bloomberg tech stack components such as Bloomberg Data Services, Dataflow recipes and Data Technologies Pipelines or equivalent tech stack such as Amazon S3, Amazon Web Services Lambda, Kafka, Python Pandas
• Lead conversation with Data Technologies Team so that data strategies are aligned and each workflow’s processes can be accounted for
• Oversee data governance on the new and existing workflow while improving the data ingestion and interoperability between our product and the rest
• Devise data quality strategies across various data workflows and oversee its governance
• Devise and implement data acquisition strategies for data fields from diverse and disparate, structured and unstructured sources
• Set up business rules and visualization to measure and ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of our data using Bloomberg tech stack components such as business rule engines and QlikSense
• Design producer database structures optimized for our specific use cases
• Analyze internal processes to find opportunities for improvement and process engineer efficient and innovative workflows using programmatic machine learning approaches
• Use your deep understanding of events and transcripts markets and data, including trading and analytics workflows, to create comprehensive and transparent solutions that fits the use case of our internal and external customers
• Understand clients' and markets' needs on each data field to extract and maintain it
• Apply your proven project management skills to ensure all technical projects are on track with right requirements
• Be responsive, resourceful, flexible and an excellent collaborator - Partner with our Product, Technology and Data Management Lab team to ensure consistent principles are leveraged, tools are fit for purpose, and results will be measurable
• Balance the best of technical and product knowledge to craft solutions for customers

You'll need to have:

• Minimum 3+ years of experience working with Python, JavaScript, SQL and NoSQL
• Minimum 3+ years of experience working in a data engineering role or related fields such data quality, data modeling, or data architecture
• Business proficiency or above in Mandarin as the main coverage will be Chinese market
• Demonstrated experience in Data management and experience in building ETL pipelines
• A bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, or relevant data technology field, or degree-equivalent qualifications
• 4+ years experience of experience related to ingesting and normalizing disseminated data across different sources
• Proficient in using Tech Stack such as Amazon S3, Lambda function, Kafka, Apache Airflow or Bloomberg Teck Stack in production environment

What's the Role?

The Company Financials Consumer Discretionary & Staples Team is looking for an Industry Product Owner focused on developing the commercialization strategy for the Consumer sector. This role is key in setting strategy for our Consumer datasets for global companies. You will need to be able to navigate through unknowns and ambiguity while making impactful decisions and be the driving force for solutions.

In this role, you will be expected to drive the strategy for the Consumer datasets and be the link that connects the team, product, and datasets with its users. This position requires extensive collaboration with global colleagues and partners such as Product, News, Bloomberg Intelligence, Sales & Analytics, our Data Governance team, Engineering, and most importantly external clients.

We'll trust you to:

• Bring deep expertise of the Consumer sector (& datasets) to drive Bloomberg’s data strategy.
• Understand customer needs and markets to ensure our consumer datasets are fit-for-purpose.
• Identify, support, and develop strategies for new datasets.
• Drive marketing efforts for product developments via sales campaigns, webinars, news and social media.
• Take ownership of the quality of our Consumer data making sure it is fit-for-purpose for clients.

• Demonstrated experience in financial statement analysis, financial modeling or industry analysis.
• Demonstrated experience in Consumer Discretionary & Staples markets and products.
• Ability to quantify Consumer Discretionary & Staples trends impacting the industry, and ability to provide analysis that can shape commercial decisions.
• A bachelor's degree or higher in relevant Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Business, or related field, or degree-equivalent qualifications
• Strategic attitude to align client needs with team goals.
• Proven ability to establish strong credibility and build influential relationships with multiple internal and external clients and partners.
• Understanding of data integration using multiple data sources.
• Creative and flexible approach to problem solving, aided by strong data analysis skills.
• Understanding of quality assurance and quality control from a data and product perspective.
• Proficiency using scripting languages (preferably Python) to query and interrogate datasets.
• Experience using data visualization tools such as QlikSense and tableau.
