- The L2 System Engineer (Network & Security) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, operation, troubleshooting, optimization, and lifecycle management of the network and security infrastructure for the school.
- Network and security infrastructure covers wired and wireless networks, physical and virtualized servers, data center, firewalls, and wiring closet support equipment.
- The position is expected to work closely and provide technical support with team members/tech personnel/affected users and vendors to resolve technical issues and involvement in technology projects.
Key Accountabilities
- Installing, configuring, and supporting network equipment including routers, switches, DNS, and DHCP
- Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation
- Configuring firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
- Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
- Arranging scheduled upgrades
- Investigating faults in the network
- Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
- Planning, implementing, managing, monitoring, and upgrading security measures to protect the organization's data, systems, and networks
- Ensure all security solutions are working and comply with policy and procedures. Respond and remediate timely on any service outages
- Provide support on issues relating to security solutions (e.g., endpoint security solutions, data loss prevention solution, intrusion detection system)
- Responding to all system and network security breaches
- Ensuring that the organization's data and infrastructure are protected by enabling the appropriate security controls
- Participating in the change management process
- Testing and identifying network and system vulnerabilities
- Daily administrative tasks, reporting, and communication with the relevant departments in the organization
Knowledge and Experience
- Degree in Electronics / Electrical / Information Technology or equivalent min 5 years experience in technology infrastructure and network support
- Good communication skills both in written and oral English
- Able to work diligently, independently, and under time constraints
- Good customer service mindset
- Strong documentation skills
- Awareness of cybersecurity trends and hacking techniques
- Expertise across a variety of security products, including firewalls, URL filtering, information security, and virus protection
