Description for Internal Candidates

You will play pivotal role within Risk and Compliance Innovation team and partner with the leadership team across the Risk and Compliance Departments to support the Chief Risk Officer to achieve the risk and compliance goals of Income. In your role, you will be responsible for:

• Developing models and data analytics capabilities to strengthen risk insights in monitoring key risk profiles.
• Identifying emerging trends or potential threats and supporting business strategies through data-driven analysis.
• Working closely with the Risk Management and Analytics Centre of Excellence, supported by a group of data science teams within Income, to enhance risk management effectiveness. This will be done through:Reviewing areas that are best supported by technology
  Greater use of analytics in evaluation
  Development and usage of meaningful key risk indicators
  
• Implementing or being involved in the implementation of changes and conducting necessary training.
• Providing high-quality and insightful reports to board and management.
• Assisting in the development and maintenance of quantitative risk models, including involvement in stress testing and capital allocation models to support ORSA reporting and annual risk appetite reviews.
• Implementing and maintaining data pipelines and workflows using tools like Kedro and AWS services (Redshift, S3) to ensure efficient data processing and analysis.
• Developing predictive models using machine learning techniques to improve risk assessment.
• Creating insightful dashboards and visualizations using Tableau to communicate complex risk information effectively.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate data analytics outputs into risk management strategies and decision-making processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Statistics, Financial Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• About 5 years of experience as a data analyst, preferably in a major insurance company or similar financial institution.
• Strong track record of using data mining and analytics to highlight risks and improve efficiencies.
• Proficient in Python and SQL, with experience using Jupyter Notebooks for analysis and model development.
• Knowledge of models and algorithms used for data analytics, including machine learning techniques.
• Experience working with large datasets in cloud environments (e.g., AWS Redshift).
• Familiarity with data pipeline tools such as Kedro.
• Strong expertise in data visualization and dashboard creation using business intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, etc.).
• Understanding of financial risk management principles and familiarity with quantitative risk modelling concepts.
• Strategic mindset and strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to consider risks/issues and implications to business holistically.
• Ability to analyse large datasets with attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex or technical matters in a clear and concise manner.
• Excellent internal and external relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
