INTRODUCTION
This is a Research & Development (R&D) Application Engineer/ Chemist position within the Electronic and Industrial Finishing (EIF) Group. This role is located in our Innovation Lab, Kallang Singapore.

Your role will be highly involve in development and improvement of metallization products for telecom, data center, consumer, and other electronics end markets. You will work in partnership with our global team of scientists and engineers to develop and commercialize industry-leading metallization products that deliver enhanced performance for the diverse electronics markets we serve. You will focus on the development and improvement of chemistries and processes within the metallization research platform.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Evaluate and refine new metallization products via routine testing and analysis
• Compliance with environmental health and safety best practices
• Produce and provide samples of existing and early-stage products to customers for evaluation, feedback, and iteration
• Provide on-site technical assistance to customers during early installations of new products
• Conduct experiments and evaluations independently and as part of a team while exhibiting a strong commitment to safety at all levels
• Participate in team approach to product development by sharing knowledge, ideas, and creativity
• Evaluate and communicate customer’s critical requirements for successful product implementation
• Collaborate with R&D and other functions to successfully meet commercialization requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with applied electrochemistry and electroplating techniques, inorganic chemistry, corrosion science, surface science and/or metallization techniques is required
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry or a relevant applied science is required
• Experience with a wide range of analytical techniques including SEM/EDS, XRF, XRD, wet chemical techniques, or surface analysis methods
• Background in formulating new products, track record of innovation, and excellent practical laboratory skills is preferred
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to quickly become competent in an unfamiliar area of work
• Effective verbal and written communication on all aspects of program activity, including demonstrated ability to make clear, persuasive, concise, and well-organized oral presentations
• Excellent time management skills and strong bias for action
• Must be able to work well in teams and to work independently with limited supervision
• Strong commitment to core safety values and best practices for safety including review of risk assessments, job safety analyses, standard operating procedures and MSDS
• Position may require some travel to international locations and customer facilities
• Travel Expectations: may require up to 20% travel to customer facilities and international locations.

One of our European based MNC client is looking for an Application Chemist.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide application formulation and field support to the Performance Coatings industry in the East Asia Pacific Region for different segments i.e. Automotive, Synthetic, Industrial and Fabric Coatings
• Perform day-to-day lab duties and conduct related applications testing in laboratory
• Assist R&D with new products development
• Maintain a well-organized lab and cleanliness of equipment, operate safely in laboratory environment by maintaining high level of SHE standard.
• Create good internal communications within Singapore team and global experts.

Requirements:

• Degree in Chemistry, Material Science or Chemical Engineering.
• Several years of working experience in coatings industry including coating formulation, properties testing and coating application process.
• Experience in soft substrates coating is an added advantage.
• Knowledge in polymer is an added advantage.
• After internal training finished able to work on multi projects independently (from start to technical approval by customer)
• Strong willingness to learn, proactive attitude, good interpersonal skills, creative thinking, analytical mindset, diligent and with a high level of tenacity.

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This role is mainly for the pre-sales and post-sales application support for ICP-MS and other atomic and molecular spectroscopy products.
• Conduct hands-on application development and troubleshooting with ICP-MS and other techniques such as ICP-OES, AAS, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, FTIR etc.
• Provide technical support by understanding analytical needs and conduct training to customers and internal sales staff from distributors and subsidiaries.
• Conduct product demonstration to new and existing customers
• Participate in the product development initiatives,
• To participate in assigned technological seminars and conferences and present spectroscopy techniques and advanced applications.

REQUIREMENTS:

• PhD or Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or life sciences.
• Proven hands-on experience of minimum 5 years in ICP-MS and spectroscopy applications.
• Experience with TOC, particle size analysis, thermal analyzers will be an advantage.
• Must be willing to travel in ASEAN and Soth Asia region.
