In this position as a Technical Accountant, you will be working alongside with a team and report into a Manager. You will be required to support the administration of reinsurance accounts and contracts, from establishing and maintaining contractual data, processing the insurance and/or reinsurance account bookings, claims handling and managing the related cash flow. This role also supports the underwriters in administrative activities related to the underwriting process.

The ideal incumbent is expected to clarify discrepancies of accounts and claims with internal & external stakeholders and following standard procedures under guidance. You will be involved in managing of cash flow including setting-up of client bank accounts in the accounting system, processing of outgoing/incoming payments and follow up on pending payments and open balances. You will ensure the compliance with sanctions and embargoes by scanning respective lists and forward to Underwriter/Legal for further investigation if needed.

skills & experience required

• Knowledge on insurance and reinsurance, with keen interest in this sector
• Relevant experience in insurance or reinsurance sector with accounting and/or underwriting assistance and/or credit control experience preferable
• Excellent communication skills and team collaboration skills with both internal and external stakeholders and team members
• Advanced MS Office skills (focus on MS Excel, Power Query)
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

• Responsible for the preparation of quarterly statement of accounts, reserves, and various calculations (commissions, portfolios, cash calls, etc.)
• Monitor cash call and XOL claims recoveries and ensure Loss Advice are sent out in a timely manner and follow up on the settlement of claims
• Reconciliation of treaty accounts, Aged Debtors Report and chase for settlement when necessary.
• Prepare quarterly MDP settlement.
• Assist in the preparation of the treaty renewal packages
• Responsible for the checking of slips / wordings and update the terms & conditions into our system.
• Attend to queries from clients, reinsurers, and related parties.
• Submission of data to MAS
• Assist with administrative matters such as filing and scanning documents to system.

Requirements

• Minimum diploma holder in any discipline
• CGI or holders of other insurance certification will be advantageous
• Preferably 5 years of relevant experience
• Good working attitude and passion to learn
• Proactive attitude - constantly looking at ways to improve efficiency and job performance.
• Team-player and meet job requirements within tight timelines.
• Computer literacy skills (eg: pivot table, ppt, simple micro knowledge) is essential
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Job Description

1. Ensure the year-end balance is accurately transferred into the new IFS system.
2. Manage the Accounts Payable (AP) process, resolving issues, uploading invoices to the correct entities and account codes, generating posting proposals, running payments, processing daily bank files, and handling tax codes.
3. Handle journal entries, including general journals for transactions not covered by IFS modules (e.g., payroll, external file uploads, and prepayment amortization).
4. Manage the fixed asset module, including new asset acquisitions, importing fixed asset objects, running and correcting depreciation.
5. Perform reconciliations (GRNI, mixed payments postings, AP/AR reconciliations, bank reconciliation, etc.).
6. Generate and create necessary reports for period close (e.g., GST/VAT reports, trial balance, general ledger listings, AP/AR reports, etc.).

The Successful Applicant

• At least 3 years of experience in finance and accounting.
• Prior IFS ERP system experience is a must.
• Familiar with full sets of accounts - AP, AR and GL.
• Prior experience from Oil and Gas MNC is a plus.

Position title : Accountant (1 year contract)

Location: Tanjong Kling Rd, Singapore

Working Days: Monday- Friday, 5 days

Working hours : 8am to 530pm

Salary : $5,500 - $5,800

Responsibilities

• Manage the full set of accounts, include reviewing and posting of all journal entries
• Ensure that Account Receivable/Payables Sub Ledgers to General Ledger and the bank accounts to the bank statements are reconciled
• Prepare monthly and yearly management reporting package, including financial statements, relevant schedules and perform variance analysis on the financial performance
• Prepare information and schedule as requested by Parent company
• Prepare and file all requisite regulatory and tax submission i.e CIT, GST, WHT, COR, transfer pricing
• Prepare analysis on budget and forecast
• Prepare government surveys
• Liaise with external audit teams and tax consultants to compile requisite schedules and information (including ECI, annual tax filling, tax queries)
• Advise AR/AP on the correct GL account code and GST code entries
• Oversee the Accounts Staff in the Customer master creation, billing, collection, contra, SOA and reporting activities according to the specific deadlines
• Monitor debtor's aging and ensure Accounts Executive follow up on the collection
• Systems and projects: Participate in systems changes/testing/implementation and other projects when required
• Any other duties to be assigned from time to time

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Relevant accounting certifications (e.g., CPA) are a plus
• Experience with SAP system and Accounting Reporting Standards
• Must have recent SAP System experience (ECC6.0 )
