Get to know the role

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist (Analytics) to provide critical insights and drive our OmniCommerce product forward. This requires working closely with various teams within Grab (Product, Engineering, Business, Operations, Marketing and others), pushing boundaries and thinking outside the box to drive break-through improvements. You will be a key part of the OmniCommerce Analytics team and a thought partner to our stakeholders and regional leadership. As we are gearing up for growth, your role will involve working closely with regional and local team members to influence the overall strategic direction of the product.

Your role is to guide a data-first approach to product and business thinking, unveil data-driven insights, design controlled experiments and be objective while evaluating results, all of this while working with stakeholders to evaluate new and innovative product and business ideas. You will help developers, designers & product managers across the company with recommendations on how to learn from unexpected results, study underlying causes for them and iterate on the next set of products to build for our users.

The Day-to-Day Activities

• Product Analytics: Partner with the product, design, and engineering team to derive insights, design experiments, and drive key product decisions.
• Strategic & Business Analytics: Support strategic initiatives with data analytics and insights, including but not limited to deep-dives into customer behavior, product efficacy, and other ad-hoc projects.

Your role will be to:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business requirements and outcomes.

The Must-Haves

• 4+ years experience working in data-related and/or quantitative fields, preferably in B2C business, including but not limited to OmniCommerce, ECommerce, Retail Marketing Analytics, Banking, Loyalty Programs and more
• Strong data visualization and storytelling skills. Experienced in creating dashboards using PowerBI or Tableau.

• Co-design the architecture for Data Platform and Data Analytics, including the development of Data Lake/Warehouse, optimization of data flows, and highly automated data cleansing.

Overview of Data Operations & Architecture Department

Recognising the efficacy of big data and artificial intelligence in optimising sharper insights and outcomes for public health, the Data Operations and Architecture Department will take a proactive role to drive the design of a 360-view citizen-centric data architecture and the implementation of data operations to support and facilitate an evidence-based, data-driven approach to programme delivery. The department will set up and implement data architecture and structuring, cleaning and validation of big data from diverse HPB and partners’ data sources (e.g. food transaction data, sports attendance data, screening and sensor data) to facilitate data feature engineering use cases pivotal to downstream data exploitation. The department will also be involved in strategic collaborations with partners (e.g. public healthcare and data science institutions, academics and technology players) to bring in their data and expertise onto the data operations to benefit citizens.

We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic individuals, with strong data engineering and data science skills and project delivery experience, to join us on this pioneering journey to build a more data-driven HPB. You will be pivotal in helping to set up and implement a robust data engineering pipeline that can integrate the vast wealth of data HPB has through its numerous data sources. A robust data pipeline ensures that changes from the data sources does not impact the timely delivery of high quality data to our business users.
