RESPONSIBILITIES

JERA GM is implementing a series of new IT systems to reduce its reliance on its shareholders for IT services and to enable the rapid growth into a global leader in the trading of fossil fuels.

At the core of the system landscape is a set of vendor systems that support critical business activities such as trading, risk management, pricing, and logistics. JERA GM have and will continue to make significant investments building on top of these systems to tailor them to the specific needs of its business. Up until now, this work has been performed by teams of consultants. JERA GM would like to develop an in-house capability, so they can be self-sufficient in the ongoing development on this platform.

This in-house capability needs to be able to extend, customise, configure and integrate these systems to meet the ongoing needs of the business. They will also support the development of new bespoke systems, such as for business intelligence and decision support, to meet needs not provided by the vendor systems.

The Core Platform Software Engineer will:

• Work to obtain excellent business knowledge of the full transaction cycle within a multi-commodity energy trading environment such that they can converse directly with users and other stakeholders with minimal hand-holding from Business Analysts.

• Develop new features on the company's credit system (Cubelogic) and ETRM (Energy Trading and Risk Management) system to support the company's growth (new products, new processes), in a Python/Azure (Databricks & ADF)/C# / SqlServer environment.

• Demonstrate a broad set of technical skills including expert database development and administration, Python/.NET/C# development and Powershell Automation/Devops skills.

• Build new features on the various applications that revolve around the Cubelogic/ETRM (APIs, loaders, reports, BI). It is most important that they have the ability and desire to rapidly pick up a diverse range of technical skills to support challenges as they arise. They will be actively required to work with challenges using technologies such as Azure IaaS/PaaS, Python, Databricks, Power BI.

• Apply their strong software engineering skills to:

Job Responsibilities:

• Design solutions that meet functional requirements.
• Develop end-to-end specifications for solution components.
• Perform testing and implementation of the solution.
• Participate in impact analysis of encountered issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of software development best practices in the areas of coding tools, languages and APIs, as well as software design and development processes.

Participate in UX activities such as:

• Conduct user research/interviews
• Develop user stories, storyboards to articulate current and future concepts
• Create wireframes, detailed visual mock ups and interactive prototypes
• Create style guides and digital assets for production

Requirements:

• At least 2 – 3 years’ Software Engineer experience, with strong expertise in at least of the following languages: Java, JavaScript, Python, C#, .Net.
• Good understanding of software development lifecycle processes
• Proficiency in Web Technologies such as HTML, CSS
• Diploma or Degree in any IT discipline or equivalent

• Responsible for the design, deployment, maintenance, and optimization of database systems, including installation, configuration, backup, and recovery.
• Monitor and optimize database performance to improve response speed and stability.
• Plan and expand database capacity to ensure scalability.
• Create and configure cloud servers, networks, storage, and other infrastructure on AWS to ensure a stable and reliable environment.
• Set up and manage monitoring tools to track AWS environment performance and operational status, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues to enhance system performance and reliability.
• Familiar with various AWS services and features, capable of selecting and configuring appropriate services based on business requirements.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
• Minimum 3 years of database management experience, with familiarity with mainstream database systems such as Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server.
• Proficient in database installation, configuration, maintenance, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Solid knowledge of cloud computing and networking, with expertise in AWS services and architecture; previous experience managing AWS environments is required.
• Strong communication, team collaboration, and project management skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
• A foundation in data analysis and a willingness to learn deeply, coupled with strong business acumen.
• Fluency in both English and Chinese for professional use.
