A new and exciting Legal Advisory position (12 months contract) for a large financial services company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice on the distribution and sale of WPB Insurance products through third-party channels such as bancassurance partners, brokers, and financial advisors.
- Draft, review, and negotiate distribution and partnership agreements, ensuring alignment with risk management frameworks.
- Advise on legal aspects of life, health, and investment-linked insurance products, including high-net-worth and group hospitalization plans.
- Draft and review standard documentation for new products and amend existing products as required.
- Participate in product governance discussions, addressing legal, reputational, and conduct risks.
- Assess customer and sales suitability for complex insurance products.
- Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations, identifying and managing legal risks associated with insurance distribution and product development.
- Provide legal support on marketing, digital projects, and data privacy matters, collaborating with experts in the broader legal team.
- Assist and collaborate with the Singapore WPB Legal team and regional legal teams on various initiatives and projects.
Requirements:
- Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience, including at least 3 years in a reputable international or Singapore law firm.
- Strong experience in insurance or banking documentation, with excellent drafting skills.
- Extensive experience in commercial transactions, particularly regarding confidentiality, data privacy, competition law, and consumer protection.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance law and regulations in Singapore, with exposure to cross-border laws in Asia being a plus.
- Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including business and risk teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to prioritize, and adapt to new ideas and ways of working.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- A self-starter with a collaborative approach.
