Purpose of job:

Assist STB’s Compliance and Enforcement (C&E) officers in carrying out compliance checks on

tourist guiding activities, travel agents, and hotels. Some of the work is as listed below:

Tourist Guides

• Conduct ground checks on unlicensed tourist guiding activities at various places of

interest and attractions, which deployment may include evenings, weekends, and

public holidays.

• Conduct compliance checks on licensed tourist guides at various places of interest and

attractions.

• Engage tourist guides during the ground checks to raise their awareness on correct

conduct and practices on tourist guiding.

• Observe and spot any breaches or violations of tourist guide licensing regulations

and/or other misconduct by tourist guides.

• At the end of the shift, to record and put up a report,

o listing all the locations and places of interest checked during the shift, and the

date and time of the checks; and

o detailing any observations which require further investigations by STB

Investigation Officer.

Travel Agents

• Assist C&E officers conducting checks on travel agents.

Hotels

• Conduct compliance checks on licensed hotels and hostels.

o Complete compliance checklist for each check conducted and submit at the

end of the shift, detailing any observations which may require further

investigations.

• Conduct compliance checks on premises that may be operating without a hotel licence.

• Conduct ad-hoc checks on hotels.

Salary

Based on qualifications and experience

Responsibilities for two-way checks include:

1. Check that the proof is identical to the original hard copy of the legislation, and to highlight any differences.
2. Check that the settings, spacing, fonts and style on each page of the proof comply with the Legislation House Style.
3. Check that all amendments are made to identified legislation that are currently in force, and ensure amendment references are accurately reflected.
4. Table amendment references.
5. Flag all spelling, grammatical, or typographical errors.
6. Mark up the proofs according to a checklist provided.
7. Prepare the list of cross-references.
8. Scan and file documents.

Responsibilities for checks of transcribed proofs include:

1. Check that all approved amendments are taken in accurately.
2. Check that all in-force amendments are taken in accurately.
3. Check that no errors are introduced in the process of transferring the amendments.
4. Check that the settings, spacing, fonts and style on each page of the proof comply with the Legislation House Style.
5. Flag all spelling, grammatical, or typographical errors.
6. Mark up the proofs according to a checklist provided.
7. Scan and file documents.

Requirements:

A good command of the English Language and ability to articulate clearly are essential as the incumbent will be required to proofread in this role.

Salary:

Up to $2100/mth

Job Scope:

Reporting to the Operation Manager (OM), the candidate will assist him in supervisory function as well as carrying out the following duties:

- maintaining the security and safety of school premises and property;

- operating school burglar alarm system;

- operating school auto lightning warning system;

- resolving school traffic movements;

- ensure operations department’s projects or works are completed timely;

- being the security OIC under the school emergency structure;

- assist OM in managing the contractors and to ensure that the contractors abide to the Workplace Safety and Health Act (WSHA);

- working with school Managing Agent and contract cleaners on the maintenance of school cleanliness and hygiene.

The candidate will also assist OM in:

- periodic stock check of the stores for health, emergency and safety equipment and other logistics;

- logistics support for school activities, excursions and functions;

- any other administration / operation duties assigned.

The personnel shall sign an Undertaking to safeguard official information

Requirements:

- Good communication and inter-personal skills;

- Preferably with Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Career Readiness Certificate (Operations Level) or equivalent;

- Preferably with three (3) years frontline Customer Service experience;

- Minimum five (5) years experience with proven track record in security and operations field, or equivalent;

- Physically fit and mobile;

- Relevant work experience in security and operation with a MOE school is advantageous;

- Preferably with a Security Officer’s license issued by Police Licensing & Regulatory Department (PLRD);

- Preferably with five (5) years of Supervisory and leadership skills to manage a group of security guards and contract cleaners, in the absence of the OM.

Contract Period: From 1 Mar 2024 to 28 Feb 2025 (Option to Extend to Feb 2026)

Salary: $2200 - $2315 /month

Working Arrangement:

(Both School Term and School Holidays)

During School Term (non-school holidays): Mondays to Fridays 6:30 am to 4:00 pm

During School Holidays: Mondays to Fridays 8:00 am to 5:30 pm

Inclusive of 1-hr lunch break (Mondays to Fridays).
