The Company
Our client is an APAC HQ financial institution seeking to add additional headcount to their regional legal function due to increased needs to support their private banking and wealth management business in SE Asia. This is a great opportunity for a motivated and experienced legal professional to contribute to the success and growth of its business.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice and counsel on matters related to private wealth management, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate legal risks and protect the interests of the institution and its clients.
- Collaborate closely with private wealth advisors, private bankers, and other internal stakeholders to support the delivery of comprehensive financial services.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including trust agreements, investment contracts, and estate planning documents.
- Advise on legal issues related to private banking services, including lending, investment management, and fiduciary services.
- Assist in the structuring of complex financial transactions and provide legal support for new product development.
- Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments affecting private wealth management and private banking in Southeast Asia, and proactively advise on potential impacts.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support decision-making and policy development.
- Represent the institution in interactions with regulatory bodies, industry associations, and other external parties as required.
- Provide training and guidance to internal teams on legal matters related to private wealth management and private banking.
Requirements
- Common law qualified and regional consumer banking, private wealth management, private banking sector preferred
- Private practice and/or in-house experience (minimum 5 PQE)
- Demonstrated ability to analyse complex legal issues and provide practical, solutions-oriented advice.
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Proven track record of building effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong research skills and the ability to stay current with evolving legal and regulatory landscapes.
- Familiarity with the legal and regulatory environment of Southeast Asia.
