RESPONSIBILITIES
About the Job
The Public Relations Department serves as the voice of the organisation, representing the four social service centers that provide vital support to the elderly, children and youth, ex-offenders, and migrant workers. Our mission is to communicate the organization's core values, impactful work, and powerful testimonies to inspire and engage our audiences.
Communication is a cornerstone of the department, working hand-in-hand with the fundraising and fund administration teams to share compelling stories, data-driven insights, and heartfelt narratives. Together, we strive to raise awareness about the essential services we provide and the critical funds needed to sustain and expand our impact for the benefit of those we serve.
Job Responsibilities
Public Relations
- Develop and execute PR strategies and campaigns to create awareness of The Salvation Army and improve relations with both the public and internally.
- Craft compelling narratives with the social centres for press releases, newsletters, speeches, and other publications.
- Collaborate with beneficiaries, staff, and partners to share inspiring stories and testimonies through our story bank.
- Monitoring for industry trends and patterns that would allow the organisation to remain ahead of the pack.
- Assist centres' fund-raising activities such as creating publicity, design and consolidation of information as required.
Media Relations
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalist, and influencers.
- Monitor and analyse media coverage to evaluate the accuracy and effectiveness of our public relations effort.
- Crisis communications contingency planning and execution for potential incidents that might occur across The Salvation Army Singapore.
Social Media Management
- Be the key driver of all social media initiatives including the scheduling, content sourcing, content creation (drafting, filming, editing), and A/B testing, in alignment with regular posting and campaign specific postings.
- Assist the social centres in ideating and trendjacking to raising awareness for their services
- Ensure the positive growth and engagement of all social accounts not withstanding Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tiktok, and community channels.
- Reporting on metrics and engagement statistics and adjusting existing strategies to maximise reach and impact.
Collateral Design and Production
- Coordinate online and offline communication and design including the production of posters, brochures, newsletters, annual report, appeals, correspondences, corporate video and exhibition materials
Events Management
- Coordinate and assist in events across the year which includes a permutation of our Red Shield Luncheon, Christmas Kettling, Race For Good 2024, and more. Vendor Management
- To work closely and align with our vendors on communications related matters.
QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma/Degree in Mass Communication, New Media, Public Relations, and Marketing.
Qualifications in other areas will be considered provided the relevancy to the work we do and the supporting portfolio.
Job Requirements
Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in a communications, public relations, marketing, non-profit sector/social service, role.
