About the department – Economics Strategy
The Economics Strategy practice is a team of economists, econometricians, and public policy advisors. We advise our clients from the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors on the forces shaping their markets, helping them to make better informed decisions, and assisting them with developing strategies to create prosperity and well-being for themselves and the communities they are part of. We have a focus on topics related to digitalisation, economic development, international trade, sustainability and social impact. We are committed to helping solve the world’s most complex problems.
What you’ll do:
As a Senior Manager you will play a key role in practice leadership, including people and project leadership.
You will be a thought leader in your area of subject matter expertise, and will use that expertise to contribute to client proposals, project delivery and long-term growth of your team and wider practice. You will help drive the development of technical expertise of the practice by sharing your subject matter expertise, and helping identify training and development opportunities. You will also be intellectually curious and thrive on playing a role in addressing challenges at the intersection of economics, public policy, and technology. You will foster a practice and project environment that encourages and rewards curiosity among team members.
As well as holding responsibility for your own deliverables and schedule, you will be accountable for leading the work of others. You will be expected to lead consulting project teams, from managing the working relationship with clients, planning the work of the team, and contributing your individual expertise to problem solving – on both technical and project management issues. Your tasks could include developing research methodologies including primary research design, developing approaches to data analysis including specifying economic and econometric models, drafting and reviewing client deliverables, as well as making client and public presentations. You will help create a culture of quality, by implementing quality assurance measures and risk management approaches on projects, to ensure high client satisfaction.
You will build strong client relationships by delivering real client value through a genuine understanding of client needs. You will have a solid background in economics, and a passion for using your training to work with clients to solve their real-world problems. You will bring a commercial mindset to client discussions, with a clear understanding of the role and value-add of professional advisers.
What you’ll need:
- Undergraduate degree in Economics or Public Policy from a reputable university, and a strong academic track record.
- Demonstrable subject matter expertise in economics and its relevance to public and technology policy.
- Substantive experience leading people in a direct reporting relationship, or as part of discrete projects.
- Capability to influence stakeholders at all levels, and the ability to “put yourself in the perspective of the audience”.
- Substantive experience in delivery management and time management, from an individual and a team perspective.
- Proficiency with productivity tools such as Word, Powerpoint, and Excel.
Nice to have:
- Advanced proficiency with statistical packages such as R, Python, and Stata.
- Experience at Associate Director, or Senior Manager within the Big-4, or leading a team or practice area within comparable consulting firms.
