Purpose of the Job
- Support the Head of Planning and Performance Management in corporate and strategic planning, and performance management across the organisation.
- Formulating business and investment plans, and strategic initiatives, aligned to the overall strategy of AET and the MISC Group.
- Lead performance management activities primarily through Balanced Scorecards (BSC) aligned to strategic objectives and the business plan.
- Assist in the evaluation and execution of potential business ideas, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate projects.
- Contribute to business and market intelligence by analysing key industry trends, socio-economic and political environment, legal and regulatory issues, and competitors.
Key Accountabilities
Business Plan: During the planning cycle, engage key stakeholders to prepare the business plan in conjunction with the budget. Key components and inputs include:
- External Environment Analysis (EEA)
- Global energy outlook
- Market outlook and competitive landscape
- Forecast of time charter equivalent (TCE) rates
- Forward revenue model
- Opportunities and threats
- Other business drivers
Business Plan Execution: Oversee the implementation of strategy and business plans. This involves translating strategic objectives into actionable operational plans, aligning resources, and setting clear objectives and KPIs for the team.
Performance Management: Working with stakeholders, formulate the Balance Scorecards (BSC) for the group and for each division including agreeing KPIs and target. Regularly monitor and report on the progress towards achieving targets. To identify potential issues and propose corrective interventions where required. At the end of the financial year, the BSCs are to be evaluated and scored.
Corporate Transactions and Exercises: Assist in executing corporate transactions in line with strategic plans and objectives and in compliance with regulations and company policies. This includes conducting due diligence, economic and financial evaluation, and risk assessment.
Special Projects: To plan and execute special projects and strategic reviews as required to support decision-making.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including counterparts across the MISC Group, consultants and research houses, ship brokers and industry groups.
Compliance: Comply with Company's policies and Code of Conduct and Business Ethics (CoBE) and ensure all activities comply with company policies and regulations.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Engineering or Law
Experience:
- 8-10 years of relevant experience in strategy, corporate planning, management consulting, corporate finance, audit or business development. Experience in the maritime/shipping, energy or transportation industries preferred.
