Institute for Pedagogical Innovation, Research & Excellence (InsPIRE) is a collaborative entity within the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) with a mission to unite various entities and foster a culture of excellence in teaching and learning.

InsPIRE is seeking a Project Officer to work with NTU faculty staff in the development of simulations, 3D visualization content (such as AR / VR, VOXON) and computer games for education purposes, particularly for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. This is to augment to NTU’s efforts in advancing the use of education technology in teaching and learning. The incumbent will also work with faculty staff to promote the use of EdTech tools, to develop and conduct education research studies, publications and other administration related to academic matters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct surveillance of education technology, identifying those that can be used for education purposes, particularly for courses pertaining to disciplines in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.
• Work together with faculty and lead in the development of simulations / 3D visualization that can be incorporated pedagogically into STEM courses.
• Development of computer simulations (using Matlab, Solidworks, SIMPHY, COMSOL etc) for education. The focus will be on simulations that can be distributed for student use.
• Development of AR / VR / 360 video / VOXON content for the purposes of teaching and learning
• Conduct simple studies on the effectiveness of technology on learning
• Inform and work with faculty staff to promote the use of education technology
• Develop prototype applications of simulations, AR/VR, VOXON, 3D visualization content in courses that can be easily adapted for courses
• Develop the workflow for the incorporation of new education technology into coursesProvide support in communications, publications and administration related to academic matters, including working with other departments such as the cybersecurity team, legal office in this area

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor degree in STEM from a recognized university
• Knowledge of education technology, simulation (such as Matlab, Solidworks, SIMPHY, COMSOL).
• Basic knowledge of gaming tools (such as Unity) and experience with using VOXON is a plus.
• Strong planning and organization skills
• Excellent team player with demonstrated ability to work independently
• Demonstrate initiative, adaptability and creative problem-solving
• Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills

The HP-NTU Digital Manufacturing Joint Lab (HP@NTU) invites applications for the position of Project Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Laboratory Operations

• Assist with the daily laboratory activities for teaching and research activities
• Assist the technical managers to coach researchers on the operation of equipment and in carrying out experiments in a safe and effective way
• Laise with and manage vendors and contractors for the technical needs of the laboratory
• Assist in carrying out periodic maintenance checks of equipment to ensure that they are in good working condition
• Provide logistical support for events and lab visits

2. 3D Printing and Design

• Support print jobs for research, university and school projects
• Customise and design 3D printed objects using specised software to optimise the print job and achieve requirements of the projects
• Advise PIs, researchers, students and requesters on printing capabilities and parameters of printers at the lab for research, university, school and industry projects
• Assist in any other technical request of the projects

Job Requirements:

• Minimum degree in related subjects with relevant experience in Additive Manufacturing/ 3D printing and design using CAD software (preference will be given to those with relevant experience in Institutes of Higher Learning / Additive Manufacturing environments)
• Knowledge on 3D printing and lab operations are preferred
• Excellent command in English (written and spoken)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• A hands-on person and enjoys working in an academic/research environment
• Highly motivated and customer oriented
• Able to work independently, as well as, in a team
