We are seeking a skilled and innovative Ductwork Product Designer and Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in designing and engineering ductwork systems that are efficient, reliable, and compliant with industry standards, SMACNA (Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association), ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) and relevant countries Building Services requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical engineering, process exhaust ductwork systems, and CAD design, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality ductwork solutions.
Responsibilities:
1) Design and Development:
- Conceptualize and develop ductwork systems tailored to specific project requirements and client needs.
- Conceptualize and develop ductwork control devices to specific project requirements and client needs.
- Utilize advanced CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to create detailed 2D and 3D models of ductwork components and assemblies.
- Optimize designs through simulations and analysis to ensure optimal airflow dynamics, energy efficiency, and acoustics.
- Collaborate closely with architects, mechanical engineers, and project managers to integrate ductwork designs seamlessly into process exhaust ductwork systems.
2) Engineering and Analysis:
- Conduct thorough engineering calculations and simulations to validate design decisions and ensure performance meets technical specifications.
- Evaluate material selection, fabrication methods, and manufacturing processes to achieve cost-effective and durable ductwork solutions.
- Perform risk assessments and feasibility studies to anticipate and mitigate potential design challenges.
- Interpret and apply relevant industry standards and codes (e.g., ASHRAE, SMACNA) to ensure compliance and regulatory approval.
3) Prototyping and Testing:
- Lead the development and testing of prototype ductwork components and systems in collaboration with the R&D team.
- Analyze test results and iterate designs based on empirical data to enhance reliability, durability, and performance.
- Document testing procedures, outcomes, and design modifications for future reference and improvement iterations.
4) Project Management:
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously from concept through to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on project status, technical challenges, and recommended solutions.
- Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to procure materials and components necessary for ductwork fabrication and installation.
5) Continuous Improvement:
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices related to ductwork design, process exhaust ductwork systems, and sustainable building practices.
- Champion innovation by proposing and implementing design enhancements and optimizations to improve efficiency, performance, and user experience.
- Participate actively in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and cross-functional collaborations to foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
Requirements:
- Dipolma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in ductwork design, process exhaust ductwork systems engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and stress and flow simulation analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL) for design and analysis.
- Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer principles, and their application to process exhaust ductwork systems and ductwork design.
- Familiarity with industry standards and codes (e.g., ASHRAE, SMACNA) governing process exhaust ductwork systems and ductwork fabrication.
- Excellent analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
