The objective of this traineeship programme is to support mid-careerists who are looking for career switches into the Biophamaceutical industry.

The training programme consists of 15 months of local attachment with GSK. Due to the nature of the programme, we can only consider Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents. Role Description:

• Ensure all data supporting the analytical method are accurate and able to take correct actions to address the issue
• Contribute to the plans for the implementation of new testing technologies and methods
• Able to understand and assess the change analytical assessment that may have an impact on product quality, validation and/or current Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliance
• Lead or participate in investigation arising from laboratory investigation, incidents recommendations remedial actions for follow-up
• Draft, review and update appropriate laboratory documents such as testing protocol, procedures, analytical methods and guidelines relating to GMP and operational framework of the laboratory
• Updated with pharmacopeial and other health agencies guidelines
• Ensures that all manufacturing raw materials / non-routine samples and products are analyzed and tested according to the stipulated quality requirements
• Understand and adhere to any applicable safety requirements
• Ability to understand basic laboratory instrument technical mechanism and method troubleshooting
• Ability to guide laboratory analyst on method improvements and basic troubleshooting
• Ability to interact with inspectors (internal and external)
• Basic statistical mathematical skills
• Ability to organize work and handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Ability to work in a diverse team

Role Description:

As a MSAT Chemist, you can expect o plan, organise and carry out experimental work with the objective of:

• Improving existing processes on plant
• Developing and making improvements to processes for new products so as to contribute to the successful introduction of new products/ processes to the plant
• Evaluating raw materials
• Providing troubleshooting support to the operations department

Key Responsibility Areas:

• Ensure process optimization for a specific product to make improvements to processes with respect to yield, quality, output, cost savings, robustness etc. in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements and ensure suitability for Secondary process performance
• Undertake troubleshooting of problems relating to the plant/ processes to ensure the effective and prompt resolution of issues/ salvage of batch/ development of novel re-work methods for treatment of substandard batches
• Ensure proper documentation and filing for a specific product (includes laboratory notebooks, technical memos, analytical raw data, risk assessments, etc.) in compliance with GMP and GLP requirements
• Supervise technicians and junior staff to ensure good and safe work practice
• Act as a product custodian and ensure the provision of first-line product-specific technical support to its customers (internal and external)
• Provide technical support for routine manufacture and to commissioning teams in the commissioning of established/ new products, as well as conduct training in process chemistry to the relevant parties
• Evaluate the quality of raw materials and intermediates to ensure that it meets company’s specifications, and liaise with external suppliers to provide feedback on the quality of materials
• Support technical, genotoxic and material risk assessment for change implementation and maintenance of the control strategy throughout product lifecycle
• Support trending and review of key process parameters and attributes as part of Continued Process Verification (CPV)
• Provide technical support for routine process decontamination activities (includes identify process residues, support cleaning risk assessment, cleaning limits calculation, support unknown peak investigation, improvement to current decontamination method, etc)

We are looking for you with below attributes:

• A degree in Chemistry or equivalent
• Experience in a laboratory environment in the pharmaceutical industry or equivalent is desired

Pilot Plant

Trainee to be involved in:

• To supervise, execute and monitor the activities within the value stream to ensure reliable and optimal operation of processes, equipment, utility and facility so as to achieve target production levels within the framework of current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), quality, safety, occupational hygiene and environment protection.
• Identify and implement improvement to plant facilities, processes, methods of operations and turnaround, troubleshoot for process and equipment problems to minimize safety and quality risk as well as to ensure greater operational efficiency.
• Lead or support quality or safety related investigation using appropriate problem-solving tool to determine the root causes and implement CAPA to prevent recurrence.
• Conducts audits and investigations, participate in audit preparation and complete identified actions in the assigned work area(s), in order to ensure compliance with GMP and safety requirements.
• Prepare documents relating to manufacturing, plant turnaround, Local Operating Instructions (LOI), Local Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and training manual to ensure that updated documents exist to support the activities of the operations department, schedule plan orders, and materials assignment. Documentation should comply to Data Integrity requirements and adherence to ALCOA principles.
• Support the Production Manager in new product introduction or plant trials and prepare and complete all necessary documents related to plant trial within the stipulated timeline.

Pilot Plant

Role Description:

VS1

This position reports to the Production Superintendent and is an integral member of Production Shift Team. GSK is committed to an employee-orientated, high performance culture that emphasises process automation, quality compliance and continuous improvement.

Trainee to be involved in:

• To execute key process operations in accordance to established batch instructions and schedule to make APIs and intermediates as well as plant changeover
• To learn Process and Workplace Safety and cGMP knowledge for manufacturing and to demonstrate understanding during execution
• To identify opportunity for improvements and able to carry out short term improvement projects to achieve benefit
• Inspects and maintains house-keeping of his assigned area for clean and safe working conditions as well as ensuring that personal protection equipment and safety equipment are maintained ready for use.
• Perform plant trouble shooting using appropriate problem- solving tool to minimize plant stoppages and safety or quality incidents.

VS2

This position reports to the Shift Operations Superintendent and is an integral member of Operations Team. GSK is committed to an employee-orientated, high performance culture that emphasises process automation, quality compliance and continuous improvement.

Trainee will be trained to operate all API manufacturing related equipment and facilities in his assigned area in compliance with GMP and EHS requirements. Trainee to adhere to strict recording and filling of batch / manufacturing records, process safety and general housekeeping of all work areas. To provide practical processing inputs to identify opportunities for process improvement.

Trainee to be involved in:

• Involve in hands-on execution of the plant operations and assist in trouble-shooting
• Monitor and analyze processing parameters for atypical trends and improvement opportunities
• Perform raw material dispensing and equipment configuration with additional logistical support responsibility
• Prior experience with analytical instrument will be a plus point
• Actively support continuous improvement initiative
• Support quality or safety related investigation using appropriate problem-solving tool to determine the root causes and implement CAPA to prevent recurrence.
