Responsibilities:
- Create, review, and update process control documents, procedures, and operational condition sheets in collaboration with the Production Superintendent and Day Supervisors.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve issues to improve process efficiency, equipment performance, product yield, capacity, quality, material utilization, and utility consumption.
- Oversee and enhance process control systems (DCS, SIS) and manage process data logging.
- Collaborate with the Technical Department on plant upgrades and modifications, working with the Technical Process Engineer to develop detailed engineering designs, prepare specifications for major equipment procurement, review vendor documents, conduct hazard analyses, and manage performance testing and commissioning.
- Ensure the regular update and accuracy of P&IDs, instrument lists, and equipment lists in coordination with the Technical Department.
- Engage with the global EVAL process improvement team to drive technical advancements and share best practices for the KAP EVAL plant.
- Support trial production and testing for new grades, processes, and equipment alongside the Production Technology Engineer.
- Conduct feasibility studies and field tests to optimize plant operations, improve yields, and conserve energy.
- Provide technical guidance for the Silo & Packaging process and propose corrective measures for customer complaints from a technical standpoint.
- Lead process safety assessments, including HAZOP and LOPA, and provide technical expertise to the HSE department.
- Prepare detailed reports with findings and recommendations for plant modifications, enhancements, and investment projects such as debottlenecking, environmental improvements, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Perform basic engineering design for proposed investment projects, mark up P&IDs, and compile technical information for cost estimation purposes.
- Collaborate with the technical team on process simulations, evaluations, investigations, and performance and yield optimization initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, or engineering.
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in engineering or production within the chemical industry.
- Hands-on experience designing or optimizing process control systems in chemical plants.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Strong understanding of mass and heat balance calculations for chemical processes.
- Proven leadership skills, with a track record of team development and collaboration in a team-based environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, interpersonal, creative thinking, and analytical abilities.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Preferred Requirements:
- Master’s degree in chemical engineering.
- Experience with chemical process simulations, such as polymerization, distillation, or drying processes.
- Technical expertise in polymer extrusion processes.
- Knowledge of DCS programming and PID parameter tuning.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing techniques such as 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or TPM.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including VBA, macros, or related software engineering tools.
- Demonstrated experience leading Capex projects.
- Proficiency in Management of Change (MOC), process safety assessments (PHA, HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA, QRA), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
