JOB DESCRIPTION

• Engage various government agencies, TAC and companies to understand industry needs and technology requirements, and to collate the industry intelligence for the institute.
• Formulate a comprehensive industry development strategy and engagement plan for an assigned Industry Initiative to effectively reach out to the industry.
• Execute industry engagement plans and drive initiatives to establish strong collaborations with companies, facilitating successful technology transfers.
• Organise industry-sharing events such as seminars, roundtable discussions, and workshops to outreach to the industry , foster meaningful connections with the industry and secure research collaboration projects
• Meet Industry KPI: Grow SIMTech Industry Revenue, Industry in-kind contribution, Licensing revenue, competitive funding, publicity of successful implementation of SIMTech solutions
• Collaborate with the Course Leader to formulate and initiate training courses tailored to the industry’s needs, by providing market intelligence information, competitive analysis and gap analysis.
• Support the Research Groups in industry-related engagements for competitive project formulation and seamless execution.
• Take charge of the business and legal documentation for projects, including liaising with companies and alignment with internal stakeholders.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with industry partners and take charge of business aspects in ongoing projects.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science.

• Demonstrated ability to organize and execute industry outreach activities to generate industry interest to secure successful collaborations.

• Bonus: With industry experience in Manufacturing or R&D sectors. Additional qualifications in Business will be considered a plus.

SIMTech is looking for a candidate with Engineering and business development background to join the Industry Development Office (IDO) to take up the role of "Assistant Manager, Tech Biz" or "Manager, Tech Biz" in PE COI. The successful candidate will cover the following tasks:

• Engage companies to understand industry needs and technology requirements, and to collate the industry intelligence for PE COI.
• Formulate industry engagement plans and initiatives to establish collaborations and tech transfers to the companies.
• Formulate and initiate training courses for the industry.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Scientist to lead advanced robotics research and development efforts in the areas of robotic path planning, simulator design, and AI-based solutions. This role involves working with ROS 2, Robotics Middleware Framework (RMF), and other state-of-the-art technologies to develop and deploy scalable robotic systems for industrial applications. The ideal candidate will combine a strong research background with hands-on development skills to advance the field of robotics and facilitate the translation of innovative solutions into real-world deployments.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Research and Development:

• Lead the design and development of path planning algorithms for autonomous robots, including multi-robot coordination and dynamic environments.
• Conduct research on robot simulation tools to create realistic and scalable testing environments.
• Develop and implement AI/ML-based solutions for robot perception, decision-making, and task optimization.

2. Software Development and Integration:

• Architect and develop robust software using ROS 2 and RMF, focusing on scalability and interoperability.
• Develop, test, and maintain robotics software solutions using ROS 2 and RMF.
• Write clean, efficient, and modular code in C++ and Python.

3. Technical Leadership:

• Drive innovation by identifying and pursuing new research directions in robotics and AI.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align research goals with industrial deployment needs.

4. Project Management:

• Lead the technical execution of robotics R&D projects, ensuring timely delivery of milestones.
• Plan, execute, and manage research projects, including proposal writing and securing funding.
• Develop technical documentation, research papers, and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.

5. Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration:

• Publish findings in leading journals and conferences to contribute to the global robotics and research community.

Job Requirements

· Qualification & field of study: PhD degree in Robotics Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

· Min. years of experience: 3-5 years

· Proficiency in C++ and Python, with strong experience in ROS 2 and RMF development.

· Experience in designing and using robotic simulators (e.g., Gazebo, Unreal Engine, Nvidia Omniverse or custom solutions).

· Advanced knowledge of AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and their application in robotics.

· Familiarity with robotic systems engineering, middleware frameworks, and sensor fusion techniques.
