[What the role is]
The Singapore Botanic Gardens (SBG) is one of the oldest tropical botanical gardens and one of only three botanic gardens in the world inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has an extensive living and herbarium collection, including large living collections of orchids, palms, cycads, gingers and plants of human cultural significance, along with extensive herbarium collections from Singapore, Malaysia and other parts of Southeast Asia.
[What you will be working on]
Based in the Pasir Panjang Nursery, you will assist in the transplanting of orchid seedlings that pass through the following stages: from subculture flask to community pots, thumb pot and finally 8cm pot.
You will carry out growing, maintenance, plant labelling and recording of orchid seedlings and employ the best possible cultural conditions necessary for their cultivation.
[What we are looking for]
- WSQ Certificate in Landscape Operations or Nitec in Facility Technology (Landscaping Services)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in orchid culture and maintenance
- A hands-on person, enjoys outdoor work and a love for orchids
- Able to communicate effectively and a team player
Successful candidate will be hired on a 9-month employment contract.
