Manage Facility:

• Ensuring that the facility is in compliance with GMP regulations. Fellowship in Vascular Surgery

The Department of Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery, National University Hospital is seeking candidates for our fellowship in Vascular Surgery under National University Heart Centre, Singapore. We are a 1,400 bed hospital with full range of vascular surgery services. There are 6 Consultant surgeons in the vascular division. We have an aortic center which offer full range of open, endovascular as well as hybrid surgery and both cardiac and vascular surgeons worked closely together. The vascular unit performs over 1,600 procedures in all aspect of vascular surgery. The fellowship will be at registrar/senior registrar level and you are expected to do on call at frequency of 1:4 Rota to 1:5.

We welcome international candidates who have previous vascular experience and looking for further opportunities to enhance their vascular and endovascular skills. As we are an academic unit of vascular surgery, fellows are expected to participate in research and teaching. ACTRIS

The Advanced Cell Therapy and Research Institute, Singapore (ACTRIS) was established to meet the increasing clinical demand of using cellular therapeutics to treat various life-threatening diseases. What you will be working on

Manage Facility:

• Ensuring that the facility is in compliance with GMP regulations. This includes developing and implementing procedures and processes, maintaining accurate and up to date records and documentation, conducting regular audits to ensure compliance, reporting incidences and preparing reports and data as required by management or to regulatory authorities.
• Assist to manage equipment- and system-related investigations, CAPAs, deviations change controls and to review records.
• Scheduling routine maintenance with service vendors for maintenance of the facility and lab & production equipment to be done on time, including preparing User Request Specification (URS), obtaining quote and following up on PO issuance.
• Ensuring proper & timely maintenance, calibration and operation of all equipment, facility M&E, safety and security equipment such as HVAC, CCTVs, access control, etc.
• .Manage HVAC systems and configuration within the GMP environment.
• Managing contractors and stakeholders to ensure regulatory & safety requirements, operating standards, established protocols and the service level requirements of integrated facilities management are met.
• Partner with key stakeholders to meet user requirements and optimal functioning of all laboratory & production and building spaces.
• Responsible for managing the Building Management System, Environment Monitoring System and the facility SMS alarm including responding to environmental deviations and alarms promptly, investigating root causes, and supporting implementation of corrective actions to maintain compliance. Assist with Facilities / Engineering initiatives with cross-functional team leaders, following cGMP regulations and internal procedures in accordance with applicable regulatory standards.

Maintain workplace safety & health (WSH):

• Adhere with WSH management system and risk management plan, conducting regular safety inspections, addressing safety concerns, and coordinating with security personnel to prevent unauthorized access or other security threats.
• Evaluate WSH non-compliance, unsafe work conditions and practices to identify WSH performance gaps.
• Manage risk in the workplace, recommend, implement actions, and review effectiveness of measures to improve WSH performance and control risks.
• Conduct incident investigations and make recommendations to address root cause of incidents.
• Managing any other operational related duties/projects as assigned.

Fellowship in Vascular Surgery

The Department of Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery, National University Hospital is seeking candidates for our fellowship in Vascular Surgery under National University Heart Centre, Singapore. We are a 1,400 bed hospital with full range of vascular surgery services. There are 6 Consultant surgeons in the vascular division. We have an aortic center which offer full range of open, endovascular as well as hybrid surgery and both cardiac and vascular surgeons worked closely together. Introduction

In collaboration with the Woodlands Health (WH) and the National Health Group (NHG), the Rehabilitation Research Institute of Singapore (RRIS), the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and SingHealth, SEC is undertaking a research programme on "Built Environment and physical activity in Falls and Arthritis study (BE FIT)". It addresses imminent health challenge on moving away from “sickcare” and pivoting towards preventive healthcare as part of the nationwide effort on Healthier SG. Within BE-FIT we envision motivating vulnerable older adults to engage in healthy behavior by providing recommendations on improving accessibility (as well as preception thereof), in urban environment for uptake of physical activity. A deeper understanding of the interactions and interplay between Built Environment (BE) and the high burden of falls and osteo-arthritis (OA) as proposed within the BE-FIT is crucial towards informing data-driven decisions on urban design and how the mobility-impaired elderly interact with their physical environment. Within the BE-FIT framework we are advertising the job position for a postdoctoral researcher.

Project Background

Falls result in severe physical as well as psychological impact among older adults. Beyond physical implications on injury-related trauma and in severe cases death, the psychosocial impact of falling can also be excruciating. Fear of falling can result in vicious cycles of decreased activity as well social isolation. These in turn lead to lower muscle strength and higher risk of future falls. In a similar manner, osteo-arthritis (OA) can lead to fear of movement (kinesiophobia) resulting in reduction of physical activity levels.

Task/Job Description

We will investigate movement patterns and features of walking outdoors and in the neighbourhoods among vulnerable older adults (suffering from OA as well as at high risk of falling) in order to understand perceptions on interacting with built environment. We will acquire these movement patterns and features using the state-of-the art inertial measurement units (wearables such as ZurichMOVE or Axivity) sensors. These sensors are equipped with triaxial accelerometers and gyrospcopes and provide assessment of aspects such as impact and swing behaviour during different movements. Specifically we will be addressing the following research questions:

1. What are the kinematic characteristics of walking among older adults with OA and/or previous falls under ecological settings (neighbourhoods)?
2. Do the kinematic characteristics of naturalistic walking predict physical activity rates?
3. Does the design of walkways (including overall layout, e.g. design of curbs, pathways etc and accessibility features e.g. size of the curbs, or height of side walk, ramps vs stairs) impact overall levels of physical activity as well as specifics of walking quality?

Specific to the Position:

The general concept is to generate machine learning as well as statistics-based models to extract movement patterns from movement/locomotion/walking/gait dataset collected via wearable sensors. The gait data from multiple sensors will be collected while participants (older adults) move/walk/transition for both short (up to 10 minutes) as well as long (over multiple days) periods of time. This data will be complemented with data from our collaborators on walkability assessment, where we evaluate naturalistic observation on individual’s daily routes and outdoor activities. Finally, we will also tap into questionnaire data involving individuals’ fall history, psychosocial status as well as cognitive ability, as well as their perception of the built environment. The primary task will be to extract features (gait signatures, but also artificial “machine learned” features) that allow us to assess fall risk in an individualized manner. Crucial aspects are the interpretability and repeatability of these signatures as these aspects will allow clinical as well as stakeholder uptake. Another important aspect for uptake is the association (via analysis as well as interpretation) of these features to the walkability as well as clinical assessment to provide a hybrid ‘mapping’ of the manner in which older adults interact with their environment.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in machine or deep learning with a background (PhD) in computer science, computer vision, neuroscience, physics or biomedical and/or other engineering fields.
• Expertise in predictive model development, especially for healthcare applications.
• A solid understanding in experimental design, feature extraction, selection, and analysis, as well as tailoring machine/deep learning techniques to hybrid datasets including clinical battery, and objective physiological (movement) datasets.
• A strong foundation in deep and machine learning algorithms, statistical analysis, and study design from ideation to evaluation and validation.
• A strong publication record especially in area of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
• Presentations at conferences and participation in workshops is desired.
• Programming skills: Expert in Python (PyTorch as well as the use of libraries).
• Experience/expertise in working with Matlab and/or R (or any other statistical software e.g. SAS).
• Previous experience with physiological (such as heart rate via an ECG or also EEG) datasets is desired, but not a must-have.
• A solid foundation of machine learning frameworks such as Tensorflow and algorithms, statistical analysis, and study design from ideation to evaluation and validation.
• Experience with GUI development is desired.

• Timely completion of relevant batch record and logbooks for the tasks performed and with adherence to GDP (Good Documentation Practice).

2. Perform routine and repetitious work within defined parameters.

3. Ensure safety, security, and the environment in all aspect of the daily activities and any potential safety hazardous are addressed and corrected immediately

• Follow safety and quality compliance at all times and communicate in a timely manner to the superior if any anomalies are observed.

4. Ensuring the equipment is well-maintained and in proper working conditions at all times, and that there is enough capacity to meet the production demand.

• Perform simple calibration and maintenance for all equipment
• Perform equipment qualification and validation, where required.

5. In-charge and responsible for assigned workstation or area of manufacturing.

• Carry out regular cleaning and upkeep of the equipment and classified rooms, as per relevant SOPs.
• Perform stock check and top up of reagents and consumables.
• If required, perform microbial sampling and swabbing of room and equipment.

6. Perform regular environmental monitoring and sanitization for the facility, in compliance to GMP standards.

7. Participate in the development of new manufacturing and quality control processes.

• Identify processing gaps and assist with implementation of new / revised processes.
• Participate in departmental projects and quality working teams.
• Support process validation activities under the supervision of Manufacturing Lead (IQ, OQ, PQ, PV)

8. Support out-of-specifications manufacturing investigations, change control and root cause investigations for non-conformance.

• Identify and report production problems and deviations.
• Able to draft incident reports, and to troubleshoot and conduct investigations.
• Lead or assist with root cause analysis for complex issues and implementation of corrective or preventive actions.

9. Responsible for production documentation of the equipment and batch records.

• Handling compliance records such as deviation reports and change controls.

10. May act as delegate to Manufacturing Lead and/or Supervisor and may conduct departmental activities in their absence.

11. To perform any other duties as and when assigned by the Manager.

What we are looking for

A. EDUCATION, TRAINING

Minimally Diploma in Life Engineering (Chemical/Biomedical), Biotechnology, Life Sciences or equivalent. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.

B. EXPERIENCE

Preferably 3 to 5 years of relevant experiences in biopharmaceutical and/or medical device manufacturing industry and prior technical knowledge in batch biopharmaceutical processing will be an advantage.

C. ATTRIBUTES

1. Able to work in a clean room environment, which may be physically demanding e.g. donning of full PPE for long period.
2. Proficient in cell culture work, with sterile or aseptic processing knowledge and experience. (e.g. cell seeding, passaging, harvesting, and cryopreservation)
3. Good understanding of safe working practices and GMP.
4. Require high degree of attention to detail and must be meticulous to maintain accurate records of GMP activities.
5. Able to work as a team, and to collaborate cross-functionally with other departments.
6. Able to work rotating shifts, as required.
7. Demonstrate ability to report and escalate issues, troubleshoot and apply appropriate corrective actions effectively.
8. Highly motivated, proactive and enthusiastic team player with demonstrated history of adaptability.
9. Able to work independently and to utilize resources efficiently.
10. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

The successful candidate will be required to wear two stages of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the cleanroom facility for safety and cleanliness purposes. The first stage of PPE donning involves changing out of street clothes (exposed to non-cleanroom environment) and into scrubs with hairnet and shoe covers. The second stage of PPE donning only occurs adjacent to the manufacturing clean suite where the full PPE provided are gloves, gowns, head covers, masks and goggles.
