The AIR Lab Scrum Master will be an integral part of the organization who will embark on the first steps to build innovative digital solutions for future Open ATM systems.
As per Agile.org the Scrum Master is “responsible for ensuring the team lives agile values and principles and follows the processes and practices that the team has agreed to use”. To this end the Scrum Master needs to solve problems, remove obstacles and distractions, plus protect, coach and motivate the Agile squads.
We are looking for an experienced Scrum Master who is particularly skilled in team building and coaching in Agile methods. To be successful the Scrum Master will need to establish and maintain positive team dynamics, work effectively with the Product Owners and establish an environment where the teams can be effective.
The Scrum Master will also facilitate Scrum events and maintain transparency through Scrum artefacts. He/ She will support the Product Owners in backlog management/refinement, and user story mapping/writing. Ideally, our Open ATM Scrum Master will also have previous exposure to Air Traffic Management or Aviation domains and experience in DevOps CI/CD environment that fosters a strong appreciation of the technical challenges the Squad will face.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the scrum artefacts, facilitating planning, grooming, reviews, retrospectives.
- Help the team to stay focused to maintain their scrum tools (story/action board, backlogs) and use the agreed practices.
- Develop and nurture group dynamics, fostering the self-organization and organization pillars.
- Serve as a mirror to the team, reflecting agile values, reminding commitments, helping to build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of being judged, with an emphasis of problem solving.
- Support the Product Owners, writing user stories and split them up-front.
- Support the Head of Engineering to establish and improve continuous improvement cadences via organizing kaizen workshops i.e. repertoire of lean-thinking methods
Requirements:
- 3 - 5 years of relevant Scrum Master role for development teams that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory. You should come with some software development background.
- Demonstrated experience at successfully kick-starting newly formed Agile squad(s)
- Previous use of whiteboarding, Jira Agile, GitHub PM or equivalent scrum-agile management tools
- Hands-on experience with Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
- Experience applying a wide variety of well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs,etc)
- Excellent communication and team mentoring skills.
- Demonstrated leader of team transparency through progress dash boarding, e.g. burndown, velocity and/or other selected benchmarks
- Fluent (written and oral) in English
