Job Responsibilities

• Proactively identify generative user research projects within your stage groups. Work collaboratively with Product Managers to execute research projects.
• Divide your time across strategic research, problem validation, and solution validation.
• Guide, and where necessary train, Product Designers in how to undertake evaluative research projects and in how to create strategic deliverables (such as journey maps, storyboards, competitive analyses, and personas).
• Form a working understanding of the technology and features of the stage groups to which you are assigned, and have working knowledge of the end-to-end GitLab product.
• Evangelize research. Share user insights with the broader organization and externally in creative ways to increase empathy.
• Lead strategic user research initiatives that span multiple stage groups (and possibly the entire product).
• Mentor UX Researchers, both inside and outside of your stage groups.
• Actively contribute to UX Research processes, documentation, and repositories.
• Work collaboratively with Clients and Product Managers to execute research projects.
• Interview potential UX candidates.
• Facilitate User Research activities, incorporate insights gleaned from the user research activities to inform and guide the design and development for sectoral systems.
• Conducting activities such as user interviews, focus group discussions and user journey mapping to understand the business areas and user requirements.
• Perform usability testing to validate interface design and drive design improvements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in human behaviour related fields such as Computer Science, HCI, Experimental Psychology, Sociology, Information Science, Economics, Media Studies, Political Science, Economics, Mathematics, etc.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience within user experience, applied research setting and/or applied product research and development.
• Ability to create a research plan including logical formulation of a research hypothesis
• Experience building meaningful cross-functional relationships
• Experience planning and executing complex research projects in a product group or business area, working across multiple projects simultaneously

Position Summary:

The Staff Engineer will drive project execution, product changes, compliance and process improvements associated within the on-market portfolio. The Staff Engineer will have the opportunity to lead and drive new product introduction for NPI project/ program. Both roles will work with members from various functions (Product Marketing, Platform Management Teams, Development, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality and Customer Support etc.) to improve manufacturability, quality and customer satisfaction for on-market products. This role must be able to work independently, handle multiple projects in parallel, and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Position Responsibilities:

• Full ownership and accountability for the assigned on-market platforms. Support Platform Management Teams (PMTs) on associated projects and investigations.
• Full ownership and accountability for the assigned NPI project/ program.
• In NPI project/ program, represent Instrument Operations, Singapore to support NPI core team to deliver successful new product launch.
• Lead Product Development Process (PDP) process within Instrument Operations by early involvement in NPI with Product Development team to transfer technology and knowledge into operations.
• Responsible for the success of on-market platforms end-to-end, from incoming materials, manufacturing performance and processes, field performance and escalations, cost savings, continuous improvements, parts obsolescence management, etc., supported by assigned engineering resources.
• Lead and drive continuous improvement initiatives, engineering changes and implementation for assigned on-market platforms.
• Partner with Field Management team to coordinate field actions, drive complaint investigations and escalations, with corrective and preventive action implementations.
• Lead project planning activities by developing project plan, scope definition, key tasks, milestones, dependencies, and critical paths.
• Engage cross-functional teams to determine project risks and develop mitigation plans.
• Responsible for all project timelines and deliverables with budget and resource management as required.
• Track and report on project success KPIs.
