[What the role is]
The Waste Management Division (WMD) oversees solid waste management operations in Singapore.
Under WMD, the Waste Collection Department (WCD) oversees the implementation of policies, programmes and schemes for the collection of general waste in Singapore. We administer the Public Waste Collection scheme, regulate General Waste Collectors, implement Pneumatic Waste Conveyance System and Code of Practice requirements, and carry out enforcements against breaches of legislative and licensing provisions.
Working in WCD, you will be part of a team responsible in ensuring that waste and recycling collection services in the Public Waste Collection sector(s) you are assigned to is carried out by the appointed Public Waste Collector(s), according to licensing conditions and service standards. You will be required to work closely with various stakeholders such as members of the public, waste collection workers and supervisors, Town Councils, Managing Agents and other Government Agencies.
[What you will be working on]
You will be responsible for:
Conducting regular audits on the Public Waste Collector(s)’ refuse and recyclables collection services in the sector(s);
Investigating and following up on feedback from the public and other stakeholders on refuse and recyclables collection issues in the assigned sector(s);
Conducting site inspections and/or arranging joint inspections with other stakeholders in response to feedback, where necessary;
Drafting and submitting investigation reports with recommended follow-up actions to your Manager(s);
Monitoring the Public Waste Collection contractual requirements and working with the Public Waste Collectors to ensure compliance with contractual deliverables;
Working on tasks, projects and events as assigned

Possess relevant skills and experience in field enforcement. Being able to conduct investigations robustly will be advantageous
Have an outgoing personality and like to engage with people
Possess good interpersonal skills and is able to remain patient and firm when engaging with members of public
Have good report writing skills and be proficient in using Microsoft Office to deliver work submissions
A good team player who is mature, independent and resourceful
Be self-driven and always ready to strive for improvement
Able to work on weekends or after office hours if required
