GIC Private Equity (PE)
GIC is a global investment firm and has one of the largest and broadest private equity programmes amongst all institutions. GIC PE invests across the Americas, Europe and the Asia-Pacific in a range of sectors including healthcare, consumer, financial services, TMT, industrials, infrastructure, energy and natural resources. GIC PE also invests through private equity fund managers. GIC PE invests across the capital structure in equity, senior and junior debt, besides investing in secondary deals, restructuring & opportunistic credit, and special situations. We currently have over 100 active relationships with fund managers and have invested directly in more than 1000 companies globally across multiple sectors.
Direct Investments Group (Developed & Southeast Asia)
The Direct Investment strategy in GIC Private Equity focuses on sourcing and investing directly in companies in minority private equity, growth capital, buyouts, and structured capital transactions, typically taking minority positions across a range of equity and equity-like products. The team focuses on investments across Developed Asia (Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand) and Southeast Asia.
What will you do?
We are looking for a suitable candidate to join our Direct Investments team in Singapore to primarily help with investments in Developed Asia with a primary focus on Japan. The role is based in Singapore.
• Part of the Direct Investments Group based in Singapore, and will report to the Head, Direct Investments Group (Developed & South East Asia)
• Will be involved in evaluating private investments in minority equity, growth capital, buyouts and structured transactions, as well as portfolio monitoring and divestments
• To assist in reviewing, assessing, and executing attractive investment opportunities efficiently and expeditiously
• Involvement in due diligence processes, pricing, deal structuring, negotiations and legal workstreams
• Attend board meetings, interact with management and other investors on a regular basis, work on ongoing strategic initiatives in portfolio companies, and develop exit plans
• Be part of special projects within the firm as assigned from time to time.
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
• Good academic qualifications with at least 2-6 years of work experience in a top-tier investment bank or PE fund
• Strong commercial judgement and experience in deal execution, diligence and closing in direct investments
• Ability to oversee and work with various counterparties, including but not limited to other internal teams (finance, tax, legal, compliance etc.), external advisors and portfolio companies
• Strong written and communication skills; good organizational skills with the ability to multi-task (i.e. simultaneously execute and assist on multiple transactions in addition to portfolio work)
• Ability to work collaboratively in deal teams
• Experience and/or interest in working on deals in Japan
• Given the nature of the geographic coverage, business level fluency in Japanese would be a requirement
