As a Staff Nurse, you shall be responsible to provide professional nursing service of the Inpatient Ward/Suite in accordance with established nursing policies and procedure and standard operating procedures of nursing care and practices.

Provide direct quality peri-operative patient care in the pre and post operation phases in accordance to established hospital policies and procedures, standards of nursing are and practices in the Peri Monitoring Unit (PMU) in Major Surgery Suite (MSS).

Key Responsibilities:

• To be responsible for patient's post-operative recovery care immediately following surgery for 15 to 30 minutes or until patient is stable.
• Monitor and update documentation before patient’s transfer. Consolidate data for transfer of care to the receiving department ensuring continuity of care based on holistic patient’s needs assessment for positive patient outcome.
• To assist the Surgeons/anaesthesiologists in procedures and ensuring appropriate documentation is done.
• To respond and handle emergency situations, such as Code Blue and fire evacuation, in an efficient and calm manner.
• To be responsible and accountable for the handling and dispensing of drugs from the Automatic Dispensing Cabinet (ADC) and its administration, particularly, Controlled drugs.
• To be responsible in the inventory of consumables, linen, supplies, etc. when assigned.
• To participate in the care and maintenance of specialised equipment, ensuring an agreed standard of decontamination or disinfection at all times including accurate record for traceability of all equipment.
• Any other tasks assigned by the Nurse Manager/Clinician.

Requirement:

• Minimum 1-2 years of clinical experience preferably in Medical/Surgical Unit or Operating Room
• Diploma/Degree in Nursing.
• Post Basic Specialty Certificate/Advanced Diploma in Peri Operative Nursing or equivalent.
• Singapore Nursing Board Practicing Certificate for Registered Nurse.

• To assess, plan, implement and evaluate the peri-operative patient care in order to achieve optimum patient outcomes for surgical patients.
• To participate in the implementation of clinical practices and standards including utilisation of new technologies, regular clinical nursing audits to ensure high quality standards of peri-operative care being rendered to the patients.
• To demonstrate good and competent clinical skills, knowledge and critical thinking in the delivery of quality operating room nursing skills.
• To be a team player as part of the MSS team to deliver a high and safe standard peri-operative patient care providing supervision and support where appropriate.
• To participate in the care and maintenance of specialised equipment, ensuring an agreed standard of decontamination or disinfection at all times including accurate record for traceability of all equipment.
• To actively be involved in committee/s at departmental or hospital level when nominated to represent on term or ad hoc basis.
• To participate in the orientation, training and education of junior and newly recruited nurses for continuous professional development and maintaining their level of competencies.

Requirements

• Diploma of Nursing or Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
• Advance Diploma or post-basic qualifications in Peri-operative Nursing or equivalent.
• Singapore Nursing BoardPracticing Certificate for Registered Nurses.
• At least 6-8 years experience in hospital clinical settings of which 5 years in Operating Room (OR).
• Leadership role in Operating Room.
• Possess good clinical knowledge in Operating Room domain.
• Good interpersonal skills
