Our software engineers for product infrastructure role combine software and systems engineering disciplines to run high-performance, large-scale distributed infrastructure. This means you will be deeply involved in the developmental lifecycle of critical software services, collaborating closely with product engineers to combine software code and systems knowledge to ensure that TikTok e-commerce's services are reliable, fault-tolerant, efficiently scalable and cost-effective. You will also be leveraging your software engineering expertise to develop software platforms and tools to optimise the operational and engineering efficiencies of complex systems at scale, with particular focus on improving the systems' observability, performance and maintainability.

Responsibilities

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across time zones and regions. Leverage your expertise to provide feasible solutions using internal cloud-native products and environments for various business scenarios.

- Develop key operational and maintenance processes for critical components, including storage services, container computing services, microservices architecture, and network infrastructure.

- Continuously improve the capabilities of core services by optimizing efficiency, cost, quality, and security.

- Champion infrastructure-as-code principles, focusing on scalability and service resiliency through automation.

- Design and implement automation, data visualization, and automated monitoring processes to optimize core components.

- Actively participate in incident management and post-mortem analysis while adhering to best practices and contributing to on-call rotations.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Programming & System Analysis, Science (Computer Studies) or related discipline.

- 2 years+ of related experience.

- Proficiency in Linux operating system internals, networking and microservices in cloud-native environments.

- Experience in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.

- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Mesh, MySQL, Redis, MQ, RocksDB, Mongo, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

- Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with effective communication skills and a sense of drive.

- Experience developing languages such as java/C++/Go, or platform/tools using scripting languages such as Python/Bash.

- Experience with running production-grade web services at scale in a cloud native environment.

- Experience with implementing observability solutions such as monitoring, logging and tracing in complex service meshes.

Key Responsibilities

• Management of on premise Windows and Linux based servers, workstations, HPC and end-user devices as well as well supporting infrastructure such as Active Directory, NAS, Network and Security appliances.
• Administration and orchestration of AWS resources to support operations and projects.
• Assist in the review and implementation of enhancements to existing Corporate and Scientific IT infrastructure to meet business outcomes.
• Assist in managing IT inventory and plan for IT infrastructure obsolescence.
• Identify and streamline existing processes with RPA (Power Automate)
• Support end-user devices with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware, software and network related issues.

Job Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in IT-related discipline.
• Relevant IT certifications (Microsoft, AWS, Cisco/Fortinet) Work experiences & Skillsets
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in administering on premise and/or cloud based IT infrastructure and services in a corporate or scientific environment.
• Good working knowledge and understanding of the cybersecurity landscape, configuration and management of network and security appliances.
• Experience with both Windows and Linux based systems as well as Powershell and bash scripting.
• Experience in Microsoft Power Automate
• Solid organizational skills and attention to detail while juggling demands from stakeholders.
• Pro-active team player that is resourceful, self-driven with a high degree of professional integrity.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.

The Business Risk Integrated Control (BRIC) team of TikTok, is missioned to:

- Protect TikTok users, including and beyond content consumers, creators, advertisers.

- Secure platform health and authenticity of community experience .

- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to improve TikTok infrastructures, services, tools and algorithms, towards a higher standard of privacy and security.

The BRIC team works to measure and minimize the damage implied by inauthentic behaviors on TikTok and its extended platforms, covering multiple classical and novel integrity/security areas such as fake accounts, fake traffic, spam, scraping, cyberbullying, live room risks, incentive fraud, monetization abuse, etc.

In this team, you will have a unique opportunity to:

Responsibilities:

- Build infrastructures to enable construction, deployment, and serving at scale, of risk defense algorithms and machine learning models. Unblock and improve capacities of risk prevention, perception and remediation across various ByteDance businesses.

- Build tools and automated procedures to support risk analytics and defense enforcement.

- Keep risk control solutions state-of-art in front of data security, modularisation, privacy and compliance.

- Own end-to-end risk service/platform/tooling SLA. Identify, advocate for and realize infrastructural opportunities ahead of business development. Drive and improve org-wide engineering excellence via enforcing best practices in risk systems.

Qualifications

- Bachelor or degrees above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, High Performance Computing or other relevant majors.

- Solid engineering skills and ability to build large scale systems. Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Golang, Java, C++, Rust.

- 4+ years of strong industry experience in building distributed backend systems at scale. Successful tracking records in solving infrastructure pain points (e.g. complex I/O requirements). Strong coding (backend, infra, algo) system design ability.

- Solid experience in being tech leads or eng managers. Possess at least one advantage among risk control, social platform data science, scaled computing. Tracking records of making successful mid/long term technical strategic bets.

Preferred Qualification

- Bonus given to familiarity with machine learning infrastructure or Big Data technologies.

- Strong ownership, proactive and skilful communication, ability to handle high complexity, urgency, cross-functional alignment.
