We are looking for suitable candidates to join our editorial team as a Digital Journalist cum Social Media Specialist.

The Job

• Curate, package, and produce engaging content tailored for Chinese-language users in Singapore and internationally.
• Conduct news sensing and research to create written and visual stories, as well as analytical pieces, in a clear, concise, and compelling style.
• Generate original content through face-to-face interviews and investigative journalism.
• Leverage understanding of media consumption patterns in social media across the Greater China region.
• Utilize familiarity with popular online media platforms in China; experience with Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus.
• Actively promote and market content across designated digital platforms and social media channels.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field, with 3-4 years of experience in news journalism
• Effectively bilingual in Chinese and English, with good writing skills as this is for a Chinese publication
• Strong interest in daily news and current affairs, including knowledge of events in China and Mandarin-speaking regions
• Excellent news sense and analytical skills assess and customise content and writing style for diverse target audiences
• Experience in social media data points, CMS system, Google Analytics, as well as familiarity with Chinese social media platforms such as WeChat, Weibo, Toutiao, TikTok, etc is an advantage.
• Ability to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments and adapt to various tasks efficiently
• Effective time management and organizational skills to consistently meet deadlines

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in the planning and implementation of the project from working with Creative, Research, and Development on materials to use, fabrication and installation.
• Take charge to appoint the most appropriate suppliers and contractors that can deliver quality work and best pricing.
• Identify the resource requirements and assign individual responsibilities; ensuring that the project is delivered according to specified standards and within agreed schedule.
• Manage project budget and cost management.
• Be client-facing and be accountable for identifying client requirements and proactively managing client expectations, timelines, and deliverables by keeping communication with client and engaging them with a positive attitude.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum Diploma with at least 2 years of relevant experiences.
• Strong presentation and communication skills, as you are the connection between client and team.
• Able to read technical drawings and understand production requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Temporary Social Media Specialist (6-month contract, renewable)

The Business Times Singapore's premier business daily, The Business Times (BT) is looking for a creative, enterprising and digitally-savvy Social Media Specialist to join the team.

Roles & Responsibilities

The Social Media Specialist will work with journalists and editors to amplify BT content on social media. You will curate, edit and customise content for respective platforms. Strong candidates who have proven themselves will have a chance to write and create fresh social media content specifically for social media.

Who We Are Looking For

Requirements

• A Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Technology, or a relevant field.

• It will be a plus to have experience in Traditional Media, Web Analytics, and SEO.
