Roles & Responsibilities

• Manages and builds an active and efficient book/video program in assigned subject areas by acquiring new projects; accomplishes this through email and phone/video correspondence, attending meetings, traveling for university visits as needed, consulting with book series editors, volume editors, authors, etc.
• Meets annual individual and/or team targets set by editorial management for book/video publishing agreements signed, and for book/video projects transmitted to production
• Prepares and presents book/video proposals and publishing agreements to satisfaction of manager and/or Editorial Director
• Presents new developments and status of book/video programs (as well as those of direct reports) to Editorial Director and others as needed
• Corresponds with volume editors and authors to troubleshoot issues that may arise during development or production of manuscript/video project
• Reviews and approves manuscripts/video projects submitted by vendor for responsible-editor approval
• Corresponds with and monitors external vendor project coordinators to ensure book projects are completed efficiently and according to schedule
• Interacts with Springer staff members from all departments, including editorial, production, marketing, sales, royalties, customer service, and others
• Conducts market and competitive research
• Reports on book project progress using department’s shared online status report
• May manage Editor(s) and Associate Editor(s) as formal direct reports
• Works with various proprietary Springer electronic systems as well as third-party software packages (Word, Excel, Google applications, etc.)

Experience, skills, and qualifications

• Strong demonstrable experience in STM publishing.
• Strong team management and leadership experience.
• Educated to Masters degree level (or equivalent), in a relevant field, or a combination of advanced degree and editorial experience.
• Strong understanding of the book market.
• Excellent communication skills, including oral and written presentation skills.
• Customer-focused.
• Strong prioritization and time management skills.
• Strong financial skills, including experience with budgeting and P&L oversight.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Enthusiastic and committed.

Junior Editor

Think Tank Studio is looking for a Junior Editor to create and execute content for our in-house publication.

As a JUNIOR EDITOR, your core pillars of work are to:

LEAD in the conceptualisation and execution of our in-house publications

• Plan and be responsible for the content and quality of editorial and publication content for the magazines, ensuring the timely and successful publication of each issue.
• Plan, produce, edit and oversee content production in various formats (e.g. podcasts, explainer videos, interactive articles) on multi-platforms.
• Discern & improve on the requests, offers, and promises required to help project stakeholders and clients experience greater level of satisfaction with the company’s work.

DEVELOP the capabilities of the writing unit

• Take responsibility to learn & grow in a new area of learning and lead in knowledge-sharing with the team.
• Contribute articles, as well as generate ideas for articles and stories with writing staff.
• Editing and re-writing articles and stories, some of which may be rejected or returned to the writers for revision.
• Manage working relationships with writing staff (full time and/or freelance) and designers for related projects.
• Maintain and uphold the writing standards of the unit.
• Proof-read and copy write for any other Company related publications or projects
• Handle any other Company related matters as may arise or be assigned by the Managing Editor or Editor-in-Chief.

General

• You must be able to organise and manage your own time and project schedules effectively or be willing to learn.

Team Structure: The Junior Editor will work under the direct supervision of the Editor-in-Chief as part of the Editorial unit

The Social Media Video Editor will play a key role in content creation for the Social Media team at ONE Championship, producing videos to engage our audience and optimize our performance across all platforms.

Responsibilities

• Edit custom content for ONE Championship’s social media platforms
• Collaborate with social platform managers to optimize content for each platform's objectives of viewership, engagement, and monetization
• Mine new and archived shoot footage from the server
• Assist social programming and production teams with tasks as assigned

Requirements:

• 2+ years' experience editing videos
• Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop
• Organizational skills to manage workflow and meet deadlines
• Efficiency and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
• Outstanding written and verbal communication
• Ability to work some nights and weekends
• Portfolio ready for review
